Thursday, November 2, 2006 — Get ready to relive the best teen soap opera-style TV dramas of the 90's! The complete first seasons of two of the decade’s most popular young people-oriented shows— Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place are finally coming out on DVD on November 7, 2006. According to Associated Press, Beverly Hills 90210: The Complete First Season comes with 22 episodes on six discs with bonus features including special behind-the-scenes footage as well as commentary by Darren Star, creator of the hit series. Melrose Place: The Complete First Season is a set with 32 episodes on eight discs, and includes little “featurettes” on the residents of Melrose Place. Both shows were considered “must-sees” for the teenagers of the 1990s. In the beginning of 90210, which lasted for 10 seasons from 1990 until 2000, the program starred Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Luke Perry, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, and Ian Ziering, among others. Most of these actors and actresses got their “big breaks” when cast for the show.
Melrose Place, which debuted in 1992 and ran for seven seasons, includes stars Thomas Calabro, Andrew Shue, Josie Bissett, Courtney Thorne Smith, Grant Show, Doug Savant, and, of course, Heather Locklear—although she won’t appear in this first season release as her character Amanda didn’t show up until season two.
