Amanda Peet Welcomes New Baby Monday, February 26, 2007—While her acting career has seen better days (think The Whole Nine Yards, Saving Silverman, Something’s Gotta Give), actress Amanda Peet has just experienced what was probably one of the highlights of her personal life—giving birth to her first child. E! News reports Peet, 35, delivered a baby girl, Frances Pen—weighing in at six pounds, 10 ounces—on Tuesday, February 20; although her due date was sometime in March. Frances Pen was named after Peet’s mother, Penny, according to canada.com. Proud father is Peet’s hubby, 36-year-old screenwriter David Benioff, whom Peet married last fall, just a few weeks after the couple announced their pregnancy. (No pregnancy shotgun wedding here, though—Peet and Benioff had been engaged for more than a year already.) Peet’s rep told E! News that mother and daughter are doing well, “resting comfortably.” And rest the new mama might as well do for awhile. Her new show, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, the highly anticipated and proclaimed “savior of the fall TV season” (E! Online), recently lost its primetime spot to the new crime drama The Black Donnellys, after the show, in which she stars opposite former Friends funnyman and Nine Yards/Ten Yards co-star Matthew Perry, hit rock bottom with ratings in mid-February. Studio 60 could slowly be getting phased out, but only time will tell for sure. In other baby news, Desperate Housewives’ Marcia Cross just gave birth to twin girls last week as well. We’re still waiting on a few babies to make their appearances: Tori Spelling and Jaime Pressly are both due this spring.
