Thursday, May 17, 2007—Ready for more couples news and rumors? Of course you are! This week’s juice includes a pregnancy announcement, an engagement announcement, a new man for someone, and a break-up (naturally—it is Hollywood, after all). First, ex-Sopranos star Drea de Matteo and her boyfriend Shooter Jennings, a country singer, recently announced their first pregnancy via her publicist, Amanda Silverman, who sent an e-mail to the Associated Press with the information. Other details, such as how far along she is or her due date, are as yet unknown. The newly pregnant De Matteo, 35, is most known well for her role as Adriana La Cerva on the hit mob series The Sopranos (which has only three episodes left before it comes to an end), as the girlfriend of Christopher (Michael Imperioli), who was the most recent casualty on the show after getting whacked by Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) in a totally unconventional manner. Adriana herself was killed off in season five. She also portrayed Gina, Joey Tribbiani’s (Matt LeBlanc) sister, in the Friends’ spin-off Joey.
Moving on, in the wake of ABC’s announcement that Kate Walsh’s Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Private Practice (with co-stars Taye Diggs and Tim Daly) is a definite go, the 39-year-old actress has an announcement of her own: she’s engaged! She told People magazine the happy news just on Tuesday in New York City, at the Entertainment Weekly upfront party. And who’s the lucky man? Alex Young, a co-president of production at 20th Century Fox. No word yet on when the happy couple plans to wed, but Walsh, who’s sporting an impressive Neil Lane Jubilee-cut diamond ring, says they’re already in the wedding-planning process. Walsh and Young were recently spotted together at a fundraiser for Barack Obama in LA on April 28. On to more happy couples news: Cameron Diaz officially has a new guy on her arm—“Mindfreak” magician Criss Angel. The guy’s no freak, though—a witness spotted the two “snuggling,” having a good time, and making each other laugh at a recent performance of the famed Cirque du Soleil (their Beatles’ tribute, LOVE) at the Mirage in Las Vegas. Angel has been romantically linked to actress Minnie Driver, and Diaz made headlines after her split with Justin Timberlake. Timberlake’s kiss on Diaz’s cheek at the premiere of Shrek the Third prompted Diaz to address her relationship with her ex with Ellen DeGeneres on the comedienne’s talk show in an episode that aired Tuesday. According to Diaz, the two are definitely on good terms. Speaking of ex-couples ending on good terms, thrown in with all the happy news this time around is the much-publicized split between Denise Richards and now-ex-boyfriend Richie Sambora—but, according to People, a Sambora source says the break-up is “amicable.” But here’s the real kicker: the pair broke up a good two months ago! Seems the media failed to catch wind of this development. However, the two allegedly (and understandably) wanted to keep a low profile about their split because of their parents’ illnesses: Richards’ mom has kidney cancer, and Sambora’s dad died from lung cancer on April 21. Richards attended the funeral with Sambora even though they had already broken up. The couple was together for almost a year, having started dating in April of last year after they both separated from their spouses—Richards from Charlie Sheen (their four-year-long marriage ended in November 2006), and Sambora from Heather Locklear, who divorced that April. —Carla Lowe
