Celebrity Couples News and Rumor Roundup VII
Friday, June 1, 2007—Despite our best intentions to never believe what we hear or read about celebrities and their love lives the first time we hear or read about it, we still tend to hold on to these fresh rumors anyway, without waiting at least a few days for the alleged news to be either confirmed or denied. And now, for better or for worse, it seems that two couples that we thought had a thing going are in fact not happening in the romance department. First, our favorite Friends actress Jennifer Aniston—who garnered a loyal fan following and support base ever since her now-ex-hubby, the hunky Brad Pitt, took up with the younger and hotter version of Mother Teresa, the adopt-a-holic Angelina Jolie—appears to have a new man in her life; and it’s not Vince Vaughn, despite reports from a few weeks ago that The Break-Up co-stars were back together. Aniston was spotted by Extra and People enjoying a very romantic, very long candlelit dinner date with a mystery man over the long weekend. The two were talking, leaning in close, enjoying some wine, and even holding hands. Now, this date at Santa Monica’s One Pico restaurant doesn’t automatically imply Jen and Vince are not back together, but if they are, then Jen sure has some explaining to do. So who’s the dude? His identity remains unknown, but if this new summer love pans out, then time will certainly tell.
In other rumors-turned-false news, the spunky blonde beauty Cameron Diaz (a.k.a. “Fiona” in the Shrek series) and Mindfreak supernatural magician/illusionist Criss Angel are reportedly “just friends,” even though the two have been the subject of much romantic speculation ever since they were seen together for a night on the town in Las Vegas, and were even labeled an official couple. Angel decided to set the record straight, and says these romantic rumors are simply not true, that he and Diaz are only friends. But he is certainly fond of the talented actress, saying that “she’s an awesome person, a friend. We do what friends do. We have a good time” (Extra). However, the long-speculated romance developing between Heather Locklear and her Melrose Place co-star of long ago, Jack Wagner, does seem to be the real thing. Also enjoying some romance during the Memorial Day weekend, the couple was seen hand-holding on a Malibu beach; a positive development, since they hadn’t been caught together since April, when they attended a celebrity golf tournament. Locklear is divorced from Richie Sambora, who recently broke up with Denise Richards, who was previously married to Charlie Sheen. Speaking of divorces, what’s going on with Anne Heche’s ugly divorce and custody battle? In a nasty court fight reminiscent of Alec Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger, Anne Heche and her estranged hubby, Coley Laffoon, were recently lashing out at each other, each accusing the other of their unfit status to be a parent. In the latest development, the two will now be sharing temporary custody of their son, five-year-old Homer, and Laffoon will reportedly be receiving close to $20,000 in child and spousal support for May. —Carla Lowe
