Couples news and gossip in Hollywoodland was all over the map last week—a preggers announcement, a make-up, a hook-up, a break-up, a finalized divorce, and more. 

Only one (yes, really, just one) piece of major baby news this time around: Pop star Usher is going to be a daddy! That’s right, the 28-year-old R&B singer/actor and his 36-year-old fiancée Tameka Foster officially announced to the Associated Press that their baby is to make his/her appearance sometime in the fall this year. While Usher’s first, his baby-to-be will be Foster’s fourth child. In the joint statement the pair released to the AP, they said, “We are extremely excited at this point in our lives planning our wedding and the joy that comes with expecting our first child together.” That’s fairly predictable—what else would they say?  

Usher’s got more on his mind than just wedding-planning and baby fever, however—he’s slated to release his much-anticipated new album later this year. 

One famous celebrity couple has reportedly decided to kiss and make up. According to a number of Brit-based media sources, Prince William and his former lady love, Kate Middleton, are giving it another go! The pair, who are both 25, maintained a high-profile (whether they liked it or not) celebrity romance for about five years and then went through a much-publicized split in April this year.  However, it’s not as if anyone has caught them getting all hot ‘n heavy—save for an alleged “kiss” at an army barracks party they both attended earlier this month. The only other bit of “proof” of the make-up is the fact that Kate attended the Concert for Diana last night.

One ex-couple who’s probably not making up, however, is Jessica Simpson and John Mayer. Despite rumors that their big break-up a few weeks back was not exactly permanent, Miss Simpson has reportedly moved on. (That sure didn’t take long.)  Just last weekend, the former wife of Nick Lachey was spotted lunching at L.A.’s hip Mexican eatery Señor Fred with hottie / criminal Lane Garrison.  Garrison starrred on Prison Break before getting drunk/stoned and then crashing his car with two minors inside, killing one of them. The tragically negligent event occurred last December, and now Garrison faces up to seven months in the slammer (that’s it?). While he’s still got his freedom, however, he might as well make the most of his time and eat Mexican food with the now-single Jessica.   

Although rumors that America’s single-mom sweetheart Reese Witherspoon’s hot post-divorce / rebound romance with the sexy Jake Gyllenhaal is kaput have been circulating for quite awhile, Yuddy’s got the inside scoop regarding the break-up.  First, the break-up has officially been confirmed by a source close to Witherspoon who only just informed PEOPLE: “They just recently broke up. It’s totally and completely over.”

So who broke up with whom and why did the super-cute couple have to split in the first place? The source says Reese had to do it because “she just got out of a divorce and was so concerned with her family, she just didn’t have the time for him, and he really demanded that.” And even though the split was reportedly amicable (Too bad; the hostile-ridden break-ups are always more fun!), it seems that the actress doesn’t just need more time—there’s “no chance of [them] getting back together,” claims her source.  

Another couple who’s definitely not getting back together? R&B crooner Babyface (Kenneth Edmonds) and his ex, Tracey Edmonds, have officially finalized their divorce, according to court papers. The couple actually lasted for 13 years—not bad for Hollywood stats. And, of course, with a 13-year marriage, you’d expect some kids—the Edmonds have two boys, ages six (Dylan) and 10 (Brandon), and are sharing custody. What – no nasty custody battle à la Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, The Hoff and Pamela Bach, or even Anne Heche and Coley Laffoon? 

At any rate, the finalized divorce is sure the please the punch out of Eddie Murphy, who’s been dating Tracey since late 2006. If only she’d won a large divorce settlement; she could help Murphy pay for child support now that he’s been proven the father of Melanie Brown’s baby girl, Angel.
