Sunday, November 19, 2006 - While little in the way of details has been revealed about the actually ceremony of the Tom Cruise Katie Holmes wedding, the couple’s rep has confirmed to People magazine that the couple have officially exchanged vows. The event was hosted at Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy.The wedding party was adorned by Armani. Italian singer Andrea Bocelli provided his vocal prowess to the ceremony. And, the couple has now proceeded onto their honeymoon in the Maldives. According to People Magazine the roster of 150 guests included Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy (who appeared to be sporting the same hairstyle - frightening). Onlookers outside, both the die-hard fans who traveled from far and wide and the Bracciano, Italy locals were more than a little disappointed over the lack of celebrity spottings available at this A- listers of Hollywood affair.
Those held back by local police force from getting too close to the affair say that little was seen of the top tier invitees beyond a conga line of black sedans and limos, a few glimpses as couples arrived on the rainy Saturday afternoon and a spattering of distant shadows in the windows waving hello to the hundred or so folks that bothered to stick around. Apparently Cruise-Holmes invited the mayor Rome to their wedding, but not the local mayor of Bracciano, Patrizia Riccioni. Locals were a bit perturbed by the lack of attention they received from the magic couple and their guests, despite the fact that they went out of their way to welcome the affair. Riccioni has been quoted as saying, on behalf of the local citizens, "They put up with all the inconveniences very patiently including the roads being closed and parking restrictions. It would have been nice if the couple had showed themselves to the public even for a brief moment — maybe at a window or from a balcony. "Rumors earlier in the weekend that the couple had not received a marriage certificate were squashed by the couple’s publicist – hindering the argument that this was all just a smoke and mirrors Hollywood publicity stunt. The ceremony was to be a Scientology ceremony, though details of what that actual incurred apparently were not released until after the wedding ceremony in the wee ours on Sunday morning.
