Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - Thanks to her latest marketing endeavor, it’s now socially-acceptable to talk about what Paris Hilton smells like. The blonde-haired heiress was in for the first time this weekend, where she made a pink (yes, pink) carpet appearance at Dublin ’s trendy BT2 store to promote her new fragrance line, Heiress. Arriving 30 minutes late, Hilton greeted a sea of pre-teens holding up camera phones, shouting “What's up, Dublin ?” She then entertained the crowd by joking: “I'm Irish!”and attempted to build a little common ground by discussing the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind when they think of the Emerald Isle – not castles, leprechauns, or rolling green hills – Colin Farrell. Hilton joins a slew of other celebrities who have made promotional appearances at BT2 store this year, including Pamela Anderson, Elle MacPherson, Helena Christensen and Elizabeth Hurley. Often criticized for being famous for nothing, the Simple Life socialite has been busy in recent years building a brand for herself by launching a wide range of eponymous products, including nightclubs, jewelry, and fragrances. Hilton is also the author of Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose and a solo songstress, releasing her self-titled debut album this summer.
In less labor-intensive pursuits, Hilton was paid a reported $1million this year to make an appearance in , where she waved to crowds and proclaiming her love for their country. When asked why she loves , the blonde businesswoman explained “Because they pay me $1 million to wave at crowds.” -GM
