Hasselhoff Regains Parental RightsWednesday, May 22, 2007—A judge has returned parental rights to actor David Hasselhoff, enabling him to see his two daughters again. His rights had been previously revoked after a drunken video of himself leaked to the media and spread like wildfire on the Internet. The judge ruled Monday that Hasselhoff would regain his parental rights provided he would subject himself to alcohol testing three times a week. The 54-year-old actor agreed, according to source quoted by People. An LA Superior Court judge, “temporarily blocked” Hasselhoff from seeing daughters Hayley (14) and Taylor-Ann (17) on May 7 after the video surfaced. It now appears the actor and ex-wife Pamela Bach, with whom he’s been fighting over money and custody, will stick to their old joint custody arrangement, at least for the time being. Hasselhoff’s situation seems quite similar to the Alec Baldwin situation (although the latter involves an angry temper rather than drunkenness). Baldwin, who’s stuck in an ugly custody battle with ex-factor Kim Basinger, was also temporarily blocked from seeing his daughter Ireland (11) after his angry phone tirade to her. The situation has yet to be resolved. Hasselhoff is most well known for his starring roles on the hit television series Knight Rider and Baywatch, as well as for his now reoccurring role as a judge on America’s Got Talent. This year Piers Morgan will rejoin him at the judges table, while last year’s “Paula”, Brandy is being replaced by Sharon Osbourne, as Brandy has her hands full facing vehicular homicide charges. Last year’s host Regis Philbin is also being replace as he recovers from heart surgery with the dancing talk show host Jerry Springer.
Another hearing is scheduled for June 1. —CL
