No More Punking Thursday, March 29, 2007—No pranks here—Ashton Kutcher’s professional “punking” days are almost over. That’s right, earlier this week MTV officially pulled the plug on the actor’s hidden-camera/practical joke-style TV series that pranks young and unsuspecting celebrities. However, fans still have the final season as well as the special “send-off” to look forward to, starting on April 7 with a back-to-back “sneak peek marathon” airing “all eight episodes from the upcoming season,” according to E!Online. The new and final season will premiere on April 10. Celebrities including actress Hilary Swank, Lost’s Evangeline Lilly, songstresses Nelly Furtado and Jewel, as well as former NBA star Magic Johnson will all play victim to Kutcher’s pranks this time around. Past victims include Justin Timberlake, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Kanye West, and Frankie Muniz—and seemingly every young celebrity in between. Kutcher, who is 29 and married to the lovely (although 15 years his senior) Demi Moore, is slated to host a special Punk’d awards ceremony on June 5 in honor of the show and some of its more memorable episodes.
So will Kutcher be unemployed? Nah. The young star’s still got a great film acting career going for him, and MTV has also agreed to collaborate with him on future projects. —CL
