Rumors of a Spice Girls reunion have been circulating for years, but Prince William is hoping to hurry things along in time for his mother's memorial concert next month. The 24-year-old future king has reportedly been on in contact with Victoria Beckham, convincing her to gather the girls and their pleather outfits up in time for the Concert for Diana. According to Britain’s News of the World newspaper: “Prince William is desperate for the girls to agree and they are considering. William and Harry were huge fans of the Spice Girls during their 90s heyday and would be thrilled if the girls’ much-hyped reunion would take place at the commemorative concert.” Just last week the former pop group’s own "Sporty" Spice confirmed that we might just get another taste of "Girl Power" yet. Melanie Chisholm, a.k.a. "Mel C" or "Sporty" recently told BBC radio that, "for the first time there is some truth to the rumors. We've been discussing it and it could possibly happen.... I've always said, 'I don't want to do it, the past is the past. It was amazing, it was magical. We could never re-create it'".
Interestingly, Mel C was the only Spice not in attendance at David Beckham’s 32nd birthday party held in London in early May. In attendance were Beckham’s wife, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice); Emma Bunton (Baby Spice); Geri Haliwell (Ginger Spice) and Melanie Brown (Scary Spice). While three out of five former Spice Girls have managed to maintain a low-profile in recent years, Melanie Brown has been making headlines for her recent paternity drama with Eddie Murphy over the birth of her new baby; while Victoria Beckham has been making headlines mostly for, well, being in the headlines.
