Winona “Sticky Fingers” Ryder is ready to make her comeback. Five years after getting nabbed for shoplifting at a Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue store, Ryder graces the new cover of Vogue Magazine. Ryder was convicted of shoplifting and had to pay a fine, service a community service sentence and was on probation for two years. The scandal dropped her off the Hollywood A-List, but she’s trying to rebound after taking some time away from the prying eyes of her public. She has three movies coming out this year: The Ten, Sex and Death 101 and The Last Word. "The attention was what was embarrassing," Ryder told Vogue. "It was the December after Sept. 11. … So much attention was being paid to me, when we had just been attacked, and there was all this really important news going on." She went on to elaborate on her painkiller "confustion". “Two months prior to that, I broke my arm in two places, and the doctor … was giving me a lot of stuff (Oxycodone) and I was taking it at first to get through the pain. And then there was this weird point when you don't know if you are in pain but you're taking it. Have you ever taken painkillers? It isn't a reckless (state), like you're out of your head. It's just confusion."
Loaded up on painkillers and stealing cashmere! Fantastic. Winona Ryder was shunned in Hollywood and eventually moved to San Francisco where she now lives close to her parents. The 36-year-old actress remains single but told Vogue she hopes to have children one day: "It's this weird pressure that I probably shouldn't even talk about. You know how people ask, 'Who is the love of your life?' God, I hope I haven't met that person yet, in a way, because I'm single. I hope I haven't had that, since that would be sad." The two-time Academy Award winning nominee hopes that people can put what happened aside and she can breathe life into her flagging acting career. It doesn’t seem too likely though. Up next for Ryder: Alpha Numeric with the corpulent Val Kilmer and aged Dennis Hopper. -Linda Przygodski
