Adam Scott Biography

American actor Adam Scott is known for both his television and film roles. Most notably, he appeared in Party of Five, Wasteland, and the 2008 comedy Step Brothers.

Adam Paul Scott was born April 3, 1973 in Santa Cruz, California.

Knowing he wanted to enter the world of entertainment, Scott studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Pursuing his craft, Scott made his onscreen debut in 1994 with Cityscapes: Los Angeles. In the same year, he also landed a recurring role on the family-centered television series Boy Meets World. He played Griffin “Griff” Hawkins opposite Ben Savage, Rider Strong, and Danielle Fishel.

The following year, he had a recurring role on Murder One with Mary McCormack, JC MacKenzie, and others.

Detouring into the horror genre, Scott could be seen in 1996’s tepidly received Hellraiser: Bloodline. He shared the screen with Bruce Ramsay and Doug Bradley.

He received his next significant exposure through his role as Josh Macon in Party of Five. During his time with the soap opera, Scott could be seen opposite Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and others.

When that gig came to an end, his next significant project was on Wasteland with Rebecca Gayheart, Sasha Alexander, and Marisa Coughlan.

Finding increasingly commercial work, Scott also landed a sizable role in 2002’s High Crimes with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.

Others may recognize him for his role as Johnny Meyer in Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator. The Oscar darling starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale, and many others.

Veering towards the independent productions as well as blockbusters, Scott appeared in Terry Zwigoff’s Art School Confidential with leads Max Minghella, John Malkovich, and Jim Broadbent.

Taking to the small screen again, Scott played Palek in the short-lived Tell Me You Love Me.

His more recent projects include August with Josh Hartnett, Rip Torn, Robin Tunney, and Emmanuelle Chriqui.

He also portrayed Derek Huff, a smaller role, in Step Brothers. Directed by Adam McKay, the comedy starred Will Ferrell, John C Reilly, and Mary Steenburgen.

Using his notoriety, Scott has kept busy through several avenues. To that end, he is in post-production for Passenger Side, Lovely, Still, and The Vicious Kind. He is also filming Rogue’s Gallery.

In his personal life, Scott is married to sometimes producer Naomi Sablan (currently known as Naomi Scott). The happy couple currently lives in Hollywood, California.
