This Slovak fashion model and occasional actress has appeared in several racy publications, including Playboy, the magazine founded by the original playboy Hugh Hefner. At just over six feet tall, Adriana also appears in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest legs in the world.
Adriana Sklenarikova was born on September 17, 1971, in Brezno, Slovakia. Before deciding to become a model, the sexy but very intelligent Adriana originally intended to become a doctor. She studied medicine in Prague before abandoning her education to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion model. With her incredible beauty and stunning figure, it didn’t take long for Adriana to be recognized by the fashion world. She was quickly signed by Next, a New York based modeling agency, and later worked with the Milan branch of Elite Modeling.
Throughout her career, Adriana has appeared in several leading magazines, including sexy photo shoots in the men’s magazine Celebrity Sleuth, and the France-based publication Jeune et Jolie. In July, 2002, her leggy and lean figure was featured in an eight page spread in Playboy. Adriana has also appeared on the covers of several magazines, including TV Movie (the German edition), and Maxim (the Greece version.) The Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition has also included Adriana between its covers.
Her modeling career allowed her to be signed by the leading women’s clothing line Wonderbra. Billboards featuring the Slovak beauty appeared all across Europe, bringing Adriana considerable fame and attention in this part of the world. Subsequently, she was signed by Victoria’s Secret, whose past models include Tyra Banks and Daniela Pestova. She has also appeared in television commercials for Skoda Superb, and French advertising campaigns for the humanitarian organization The Red Cross.
Adriana is fluent in French, and so her acting career has included a long list of guest appearances on French television series including Tout le monde en parle and 20h10 petantes. Her English roles include a guest appearance on Eurotrash, serving as a host for the 2005 Miss Europe competition, and a single appearance on Jim Henson’s The Muppet Show in 2006.
Presently, Adriana is working on the film Asterix aux jeux olympiques, which will be released in 2008. The French film, which will also be released in English, will also feature Gerard Depardieu, wrestler Nathan Jones, Claudia Cardinale, and soccer superstar David Beckham.
In 1998, Adriana married Christian Karembeu, the recently-retired French soccer player. Adriana took his name, and now goes by Adriana Karembeu. The couple are happily married and currently reside in Madrid.
