Alyson Stoner Biography American actress, model, singer, and dancer Alyson Stoner was made popular by various Disney shows such as Super Short Show and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The multitalented Stoner also gained considerable exposure for her role in the hit film Cheaper by the Dozen.
Alyson Rae Stoner was born August 11, 1993 in Toledo, Ohio. She obtained her education at both the Margaret OBrien Modeling Studio and O’Connell Dance Studio. A child star from the get-go, Stoner was already involved in acting by 1999. She was also immersed in dance and modeling. By 2002, Stoner’s first major gig arrived when she co-hosted Super Short Show with Mike Johnson. She held the gig until 2006. During that time, she also began landing larger and more commercial roles. Of particular note was her turn in the 2003 comedy Cheaper by the Dozen. She shared the screen with some of Hollywood’s best including Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Piper Perabo, Tom Welling, and Hilary Duff. She reprised her role in 2005 for Cheaper by the Dozen 2, and she got to work with added cast members Eugene Levy, Carmen Electra, and Jaime King.
Always keeping busy, Stoner not only acted during this time, but she also trained extensively in choreography. She used her new skills to dance in the high profile music videos for “Work It” and “Just Lose It” by Missy Elliott and Eminem respectively. Continuing to pursue dance, she was part of JammXKids, a dance troupe, from 2003 to 2006. After the end of her stint with Super Short Show, Stoner leveraged her new popularity into many different television opportunities. The most notable of these include a time with the popular series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. She played Max opposite Dylan Sprouse, Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, and Ashley Tisdale. Frequently providing voice work on different projects, Stoner’s vocal skill was utilized on W.I.T.C.H., Holly Hobbie and Friends (Secret Adventures as well as Best Friends Forever), and most recently, Phineas and Ferb. She earned her largest film credit to date in 2007 when she took the lead in Alice Upside Down. Directed by Sandy Tung and based on the novel by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, the film also featured Luke Perry, Lucas Grabeel, Penny Marshall, and Parker McKenna Posey. In addition to her modeling, voice work, acting, and dacing, Stoner has recently added singing to her list of talents. Her biggest achievement so far in that field is a cover of JoJo’s single “Baby It’s You.” She is also pursuing voice lessons to improve her overall tone.
In current news, Stoner just completed filming on the new movie Camp Rock. It is set to also feature the Jonas Brothers (Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Paul Kevin Jonas). In her personal life, she is close friends with Miley Cyrus, the teen pop sensation known better as Hannah Montana. |
