Amelia Warner British actress Amelia Warner may not be very well-known as the budding and talented actress that she is, but she did acquire some recognition for being married to Colin Farrell for five months from July to November of 2001. Born June 4, 1982 in Liverpool, Merseyside in the U.K., Amelia Warner is the only child of actress Annette Ekblom, learning independence early on in life as her parents split when she was very little. She grew up hanging around in stage dressing rooms and television studios, and became accustomed to the celebrity way of life. Amelia Warner and Annette Ekblom moved to London, England when Warner was four, so she could study at the Royal Masonic School for Girls, and then later the College of Fine Arts when she was 16. The schools she attended did not approve of her taking so much time off for acting so she ended up needing to study while at a college in Belsize Park. Amelia Warner was discovered by an agent at a performance of a play she had created and acted out with her friends in Covent Garden in London. She ended up winning a place at London Royal Court Theatre’s youth program. Amelia Warner was involved in various roles in television drama, beginning with British television programs Kavanagh QC and hospital drama Casualty, both in 1998.
Warner then went on to play Antonia in the Hallmark Production of the film Don Quixote, directed by Peter Yates and co-starring John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini, but really made it big portraying the character Lorna Doone in the made-for-T.V. movie Lorna Doone and for her role in the film Quills, both of which came out in 2000. In Quills, directed by Philip Kaufman, Amelia Warner played Simone and co-starred with big actors Geoffrey Rush, Kate Winslet, Joaquin Phoenix and Michael Caine. Her filmography, although not yet extensive, expanded into the 21st century. Amelia Warner acted in films such as Nine Lives (2002), Falling Slowly (2003), Love’s Brother (2004), Winter Passing (2005), Stoned (2005), and Aeon Flux, with Charlize Theron (2005). When Amelia Warner married Dublin actor Colin Farrell in 2001, she was only 19 and the couple had only been dating for eight months. According to reports they were married in secret without either of their families present. When they were planning to file for divorce only months later due to a “failed marriage,” there were reports the couple were never legally married in the first place. YUDDY |
