Andrew Wilson Biography

Andrew Wilson is rarely recognized for his own accomplishments, and is instead linked to his brothers, Luke Wilson and Owen Wilson, both accomplished actors. Andrew Cunningham Wilson was born August 22, 1964, in Dallas, Texas. The oldest of the Wilson brothers, Andrew has acted in several films with both brothers since the three of them moved together to California. Andrew played is first leading role as John Mapplethorpe/Future Man in Bottle Rocket, the first screenplay written by his brother Owen in conjunction with Wes Anderson.

Though never credited with a role having Academy Award potential, Andrew Wilson has played parts in several big screen favorites including Charlie’s Angels and Charlie’s Angel’s: Full Throttle, and has worked with esteemed Hollywood personalities such as Bill Murray, Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz, and Drew Barrymore. Many of the films he has appeared in have starred either Luke or Owen, or even both brothers. However, Andrew Wilson took a lead role in Church Ball in 2006 without the presence of either brother. Andrew Wilson made his directorial debut along side brother Luke with The Wendell Baker Story in 2005.

Andrew Wilson is rarely seen outside of the context of the threesome, but it’s evident that the Wilson brothers have always enjoyed working and playing together. Andrew has a BB permanently lodged in the skin between his knuckles on his hand after being accidentally shot with a BB gun by his brother Owen when they were young and goofing off one day. Andrew’s childhood scar can be seen in The Royal Tenenbaums, where it’s intended to be Ben Stiller’s character’s hand. Andrew has been married and divorced once and outside of his family ties, manages to keep his personal life, much like his acting career, out of the spotlight.
