American actor Balthazar Getty broke onto the acting scene in 1990 and hasn’t looked back since. During his time in the public eye, he has become known for his roles in Lord of the Flies, Lost Highway, and the television program Brothers & Sisters.

Paul Balthazar Getty was born January 22, 1975 in Tarzana, Los Angeles, California. He was subsequently raised in San Francisco. Getty’s parents are Gisela Getty and Paul Getty Jr, and his great-grandfather was noted oil tycoon and multi-billionaire Jean Paul Getty.

Deciding to enter the world of entertainment, Getty made his onscreen debut in 1990 with a one-episode appearance in Nightmare Classics. He appeared beside Amy Irving, Roddy McDowall, and Laura Dern.

The same year, he landed the lead in the big screen adaptation of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Playing Ralph, Getty received a considerable amount of exposure and soon found himself landing more and more roles.

His next major endeavor was Young Guns II with the star-studded cast of Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Christian Slater, Alan Ruck, Viggo Mortensen, and still others.

Finding work within a variety of films, Getty’s commercial success increased with his appearance in 1995’s Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone and Diane Lane. It continued with Ridley Scott’s 1996 drama White Squall. In this film, he shared the screen with Jeff Bridges, Scott Wolf, Ryan Phillippe, Ethan Embry, and others.

Beginning to land increasingly experimental projects, Getty worked with independent director David Lynch in his 1997 mystery Lost Highway with Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette, and Robert Blake.

Transitioning into television, others may recognize Getty for a starring role in 2001’s Pasadena. The short-lived series featured Alison Lohman and Dana Delany.

He then appeared sporadically on Charmed as Richard Montana between 2003 and 2004. During this time, he appeared with series regulars Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan, and Holly Marie Combs.

Landing on another hit series, Getty spent 2004 and 2005 as Thomas Grace on the hit series Alias, which starred Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan, and Ron Rifkin.

Getty’s most recent exposure has come from a starring role in the dramatic series Brothers & Sisters. Led by a strong cast including Dave Annable, Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Sarah Jane Morris, Sally Field, and Rob Lowe, the show has managed to secure good ratings and a loyal following.

Outside of acting, Getty is noted for his affiliation with the band Ringside.

In his personal life, he has been linked to some of Hollywood’s most desired starlets such as Drew Barrymore, Lala Sloatman, Gina Gershon, and Milla Jovovich.

Settling down, Getty married Rosetta Millington on May 3, 2000. They have four children and are currently still together.

He is also noted for his close friendships with Joaquin Phoenix, Jason Mewes, and Eric Dane.
