Blake Lively This fresh-faced, attractive, tall, blonde Californian has only just begun her career in acting, but is already making a name for herself, proving her worth as leading lady on film, and as an overall talented and versatile actress. Blake Lively is currently most known for her roles on the films The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Accepted. Although her filmography is neither extensive nor necessarily impressive, the spunky young star is not yet twenty and has her whole life ahead of her. Blake Lively was born into a big family of entertainers in Tarzana, California, on August 25, 1987, the youngest of five children. Her parents are noted actors, Ernie Lively and Elaine Lively, and her siblings are also all in the acting business: Eric Lively, Jason Lively, Lori Lively, and Robyn Lively. She grew up in Burbank, attending high school there, where she busied herself with cheerleading, acting as class president, and singing with the National Show Choir.
She first appeared on the big screen as Trixie the Tooth Fairy in 1998’s Sandman, which was directed by her father, when she was just ten. After that, Lively decided to take a hiatus from acting so she could attend school normally. She came back with a bang seven years later as Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005, a successful coming-of-age film about four young friends who share a pair of jeans. The film propelled the then-relatively unknown Lively into stardom, giving her the big break she needed. The Sisterhood was a huge success with its target audience, and also starred Amber Tamblyn from the TV series Joan of Arcadia; America Ferrera, who is now starring in ABC’s Ugly Betty as Betty Suarez; and Alexis Bledel, who stars alongside Lauren Graham in CW’s Gilmore Girls. Lively was nominated for Choice Movie Breakout Performance for her role as Bridget at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards. Lively went on to snag the love interest role of Monica in 2006’s hit Accepted, alongside Justin Long, Jonah Hill, Adam Herschmman, Columbus Short, and Maria Thayer. Also that year, Lively appeared in the less successful gruesome horror movie Simon Says. The film starred Crispin Glover who played psycho killer twin brothers Simon and Stanley, as well as Margo Harshman, Greg Cipes, Carrie Finklea, Kelly Vitz, and Artie Baxter.
Lively is slated to appear in 2007’s dark romantic comedy Elvis and Anabelle as leading lady Anabelle, opposite Max Minghella who plays Elvis. Other co-stars include Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen, and Keith Carradine. YUDDY |
