West Beverly’s dancing deejay Brian Austin Green was born Brian Peter Green on July 15, 1973, in Van Nuys, California. Green made his small screen debut at age thirteen, guest-starring on the 80s robot series, Small Wonder. He has also guest-starred on hit 80s series, Growing Pains with Kirk Cameron; as well as Highway to Heaven, alongside Michael Landon.
From 1986 to 1989, Green had a regular role on the prime-time soap Knots Landing. One year later, he got his big break when he landed the role of nerdy David Silver on Aaron’s Spelling’s new teen drama, Beverly Hills 90210. Starring alongside Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, and Tori Spelling; Green’s character eventually cracked the cool crowd at West Beverly High, and he stayed with the show during its full ten-year run.
In addition to acting, Green also pursued a career in music during the 90s, founding his record label, Yab Yum; and releasing his rap debut, One Stop Carnival in 1996. A critical and commercial flop, the album was compared to the earlier effort of Vanilla Ice; and unfortunately, some of the early marketing promos credited Green as "Brain Green." It was also around this time at Green dropped the "Austin" from his name. He has previously explained that the middle name Austin was made up by his parents when he was nine, as there was already another Brian Green in the Screen Actors Guild.
During an interview with Insider following the release of his debut album, Austin confessed, "There's no real direction to the album," which may have contributed to The Onion including it on their list of the "least-essential albums of the 90s." Also during the mid-90s, Green acted in the made-for-TV movies, Stolen Youth in 1996 and Unwed Father in 1997.
In 2002, Green and his former fiancee and former 90210 cast mate, Vanessa Marcil, welcomed the birth of their son, Kassius Lijah. Green had also previously been involved in a long-term relationship with Tiffani Thiessen, another 90210 actress.
In 2005, Green appeared on Freddie Prinze Jr.’s ABC sitcom Freddie. For the first time, Green received critical acclaim for his comedic timing and polished performance. Also that year, Green and Ian Ziering made a cameo appearance in Domino, starring Keira Knightley, Mickey Rourke, Lucy Liu, and Jacqueline Bisset.
In 2006, Green starred in the horror short, Grace, featuring Gilmore Girls actress, Liza Weil as his love interest. In real-life, Green is currently rumored to be engaged to another sitcom actress, Megan Fox of Hope & Faith.
