Known primarily for being an excellent Olympic athlete and later in life as an actor, this New York born Gold Medal winner has battled with dyslexia all his life but has never let it stand in the way of his success.

Born William Bruce Jenner in Mount Kisco, New York on October 28^th 1949, attended Sleepy Hollow High School in Tarrytown, New York before transferring to Newtown High School in Newtown, Connecticut where he first excelled at football, basketball as well as track and field sports.

Bruce earned a football scholarship and went on to attended Graceland University. While in training Bruce sustained a knee injury which forced him to stop playing football at which point her turned his interests to the decathlon.

Jenner’s Olympic career saw him being placed tenth in the 1972 Munich Olympics and went on to win his gold medal at the 1976 summer Olympic games in Montreal. He set a world and Olympic record of 8,634 points. As he won his event he was handed the Stars and Stripes flag by a supporter and continued to run a victory lap waving the flag. This later became a standard practice by winning competitors from all nations to run their country’s flag around the track.

Bruce was inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Bay Area Hall of Fame and Connecticut Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.

Following his success at the Olympics Bruce was invited to the White House by President Gerald R Ford who autographed a political cartoon of the breakfast cereals Jenner had come to represent in advertisements.

With his Olympic career behind him Bruce turned to acting and made his debut in 1980 in the movie Can't Stop the Music. The disco-era comedy about the singing group The Village People. Unfortunately it was a resounding flop and Jenner never made another theatrical film.

His performing career then saw him making appearances in several TV shows such as the 1980’s police drama CHiPs with Erik Estrada, The Fall Guy, with Lee Majors, Murder She Wrote, with Angela Lansbury and Knight Rider with David Hasselhoff. He also appeared in the reality show "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here" with Cris Judd, Nikki Schieler Ziering and Melissa Rivers.

In 1981 Bruce married Linda Thompson with whom he had two sons Brandon and Brody but later divorced in 1983.

Along with an exceptional career in sports and a more recent career in TV has also become a highly regarded and successful author. His first book, Decathlon Challenge: Bruce Jenner’s Story, appeared on the 1977 “Best Books for Young Adults”. In 1980, he penned Bruce Jenner’s Viewers Guide to the Olympics, a handbook to the games, which was updated for the 1984 Summer Olympics. In 1984, he completed The Teenage Guide to Fitness. His most recent release entitled “Finding the Champion Within” is a motivational book.

In 2007 Bruce, along with his wife, the former Kris Kardashian, and his stepdaughters Kim Kardashian, Kourtney, Khloe and stepson Robert, from Kris' marriage to late attorney Robert Kardashian, and daughters Kylie and Kendall, starred in the E! reality series "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

Bruce now resides in Lake Sherwood, California with his wife Kris, and their six children Kourtney, Kimberly, Khloe, Robert, Kendall and Kylie. His more recent hobbies include flying his plane and golf.
