Carla Bruni Bio

Carla Bruni Biography

Italian beauty Carla Bruni has had an interesting and varied life, both professionally and personally. She first entered the spotlight as a highly successful model before turning her sights to music. Succeeding in that arena as well, Bruni continued to turn heads and drop jaws when she abandoned her penchant for romantic flings and married the president of France.

Carla Bruni Tedeschi, known popularly as Carla Bruni, was born December 23, 1967 in Turin, Italy. Never hurting for money, Bruni was heiress to her grandfather’s tire company, CEAT. Her parents were Alberto Bruni Tedeschi and Marysa Borini, a composer and concert pianist respectively. She had one brother, and her sister is Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, an actress.

By 1973, however, the family was forced to relocate to France for fear they would be kidnapped or harmed by the Marxist-Leninist terrorists, the Red Brigades.

Spending her childhood in France, Bruni obtained her education from Swiss boarding schools. Feeling a draw to Paris, Bruni eventually returned in order to more fully study her passions—architecture and art. By the time she was nineteen, however, her modeling career was beginning to take off, and she decided to pursue that career fulltime.

Signing with City Models, Bruni was first booked by Paul Marciano of Guess? Inc. Modeling beside Estelle Lefebure, Bruni’s work for Marciano caught the eye of many other fashion houses. She subsequently modeled for many of the largest names in fashion including Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Dior, John Galliano, Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, and others.

By 1997, Bruni was at the top of her modeling career but decided to leave it all behind in exchange for a music career. Her debut album, Quelqu’un m’a Dit, hit the shelves in 2002 to major success. After several duet appearances, her second album finally arrived in early 2007. It was entitled No Promises, and it featured the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Dorothy Parker, Walter de la Mare, and others set to music.

In her personal life, Bruni received a shocking piece of news in 2007. The man she thought was her father was not actually her biological father. Rather, this was a businessman named Maurizio Remmert.

She has also had a sordid personal life with relationships involving Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Donald Trump, Vincent Perez, and many others. She was even linked to Jean Paul Enthoven and then shortly after his son, Raphael Enthoven. Despite breaking up Raphael’s marriage and the birth of their son in 2001, Bruni and Raphael’s relationship didn’t last.

Because of these numerous scandals, it was a shock to the political world when Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, was photographed with Bruni everywhere from Disneyland Paris to Egypt to Jordan. In an even more shocking move, the couple married on February 2, 2008.

The marriage marks the first for Bruni but the third for President Sarkozy.
