Carol Alt American model, Carol Alt was born on December 1, 1960, in East Williston, Long Island, New York. At sixteen years old, Alt landed a contract with major modeling agency, Elite Management. By age eighteen, she was at the top of her game, frequently referred to as "the face" and "the most beautiful woman in the world" for her striking appearance. Alt’s modeling career continued to pick up steam in her early twenties, when she was featured on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine, as well as the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Alt has also lent her face to various endorsement deals for such brands as Butterick, Coty, Cover Girl, General Motors, Hanes, Lancome, Noxzema, Pepsi, and Virginia Slims. With her career on the rise in the early 80s, Alt married New York Rangers hockey player Ron Greschner. The couple divorced in 1996, and Alt has since been involved with New York Islanders hockey player, Alexei Yashin, thirteen years her junior. Rumors that the couple is secretly married have persisted over the years; however, in a 2006 interview, Yashin confirmed that they are not married but rather in a committed relationship.
Since the mid-80s, Alt has starred in a variety of mostly Italian films, including I miei primi quarant'anni (My First Forty Years) in 1987, alongside Elliott Gould. In Italy, she has been recognized with the Telegatto, the Italian equivalent of an Emmy award, as well as a Certificate Del Arte, an Award of Merit from the Federation of the Arts. Alt has also recorded a music video in Italy, as well as traveled to Africa to film the Italian TV mini-series, Pensando all’Africa (Thinking About Africa). On the small screen, Alt has lent her voice to animated series King of the Hill, and also appeared as a guest on the Howard Stern Radio Show, where her status as a supermodel has been debated. However, Alt was ranked #5 on askmen.com's list of the Top 10 Supermodels Of All Time, following Kathy Ireland, Christie Brinkley, Gisele Bundchen, and Cindy Crawford. In addition to modeling, Alt is also a consultant for Le Mirador skin-care line, and has written a book titled Eating In The Raw: A Beginner's Guide To Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, And Looking Younger the Raw-food Way. The book promotes the health and beauty benefits of eating raw foods.
On the subject of her success and work ethic, Alt has been quoted as stating, "I never thought I was the most beautiful model out there or the most sexy woman, but I was a hard worker." Clearly Carol Alt's work ethic paid off and her belief that she wasn't the 'most beautiful model out there' wasn't a consideration as Hugh Hefner placed her firmly on the cover of his Playboy magazine for December 2008. Not only was Carol seen gracing the cover, she had a full pictorial on the inside pages. YUDDY |
