Cheryl Ladd

Mention Cheryl Ladd and the immediate reaction is ‘Charlie’s Angels’, and her association with Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and the voice of Charlie, John Forsythe. With a career that has spanned three decades Ladd is still seen as a self assured and accomplished actress in Hollywood.

Cheryl Ladd was born in Huron, South Dakota on July 12th 1951, to an engineering father, Marion Stoppelmoor and his waitress wife Delores. As the older sister to brother Seth, Cheryl grew up attending high school in Huron and becoming an integral part of the school’s cheerleading troupe and after school she waited on cars at the local car, The Barn.

Cheryl’s initial step into the world of entertainment was as a singer and her first professional role was as the voice of ‘Cherie Moor’ in Hanna-Barbera’s’ animated series ‘Josie and the Pussycats’. Ladd’s next big move was into acting where she landed roles in several made for television movies and made guest appearances on ‘Ironside’ starring Raymond Burr and on the ‘Partridge Family’ with David Cassidy and Shirley Jones.

During her time in Hollywood Cheryl met fellow actor, David Ladd, the son of Alan Ladd, and after marrying in 1974 they produced their only child, a daughter, Jordan, one year later.

It was two years later that Cheryl would receive her breakthrough role in the TV series ‘Charlie’s Angels’ when she replaced Farrah Fawcett, as Jill Monroe in the second series. Although the role was demanding and led to instant recognition, Cheryl never gave up her love of music and in 1979 she released her self titled album, followed by ‘Dance Forever'. Which produced a number forty billboard hit for the actress.

1980 saw Cheryl and David divorcing and one year later the end of the successful TV show that had made her a household name. Although Cheryl was divorced from David she kept his name even after remarrying in 1981, this time to music producer and actor Brian Russell. After ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Ladd made more than thirty five made-for-TV movies including, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ with Michael Caine and ‘Eve’s Christmas’ in 2004 with Elisa Donovan. On of Ladd’s more recent roles has been as a recurring guest on the NBC series, ‘Las Vegas’ with James Caan and Josh Duhamel.

In 2005 Cheryl turned her hand to writing and released her first book based on her passion for golf, ‘Token Chick: A Woman's Guide to Golfing with the Boys’. Her favourite pastime has also seen her participating in the All Star Cup in 2005, an event that also saw Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas, Jane Seymour and Rob Lowe competing.
