Chris Pine
With an acting career beginning in the realms of fantasy as Nicholas Deveraux in The Princess Diaries and then progressing back to reality only to fall back into sci-fi fantasy this actor has shown his versatility during the few years he has been in the movie business.
Christopher Pine was born to Robert and Gwynne Pine in Los Angeles, California on August 26th 1980, both of whom had links to the acting profession with his father being an actor and his mother working behind the scenes in wardrobe. Chris’s grandmother, Anne Gwynne was also an actress in the 1930s and 1940s. Known as one of the first scream queens because of her numerous appearances in horror films, the actress-model was also one of the most popular pin-ups of World War II. She died in March 2003 of a stroke following surgery in California.
Chris has one sister, Katie.
Chris’s education took him to the University of California at Berkeley after which he took up his career in acting first appearing in an episode of ER in 2003 which saw him staring with George Clooney and Anthony Edwards. That appearance led to a roles in The Guardian and CSI: Miami with the 'very cool' red headed detective, David Caruso.
Chris’s first starring role came in 2003 when he landed the role of Nicholas Deveraux in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement where he starred alongside Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway.
Also in 2003 Chris played a small role in the popular television series Six Feet Under as well as in two short independent films Confessions and The Bulls.
As a love interest in the 2006 romantic comedy movie, Just My Luck, Chris found himself playing opposite Lindsay Lohan and Samaire Armstrong. The same year saw Chris appearing in another romantic comedy Blind Dating with Jane Seymour and Jodi Russell and again in Smokin’ Aces with Ben Affleck, Alicia Keys and Andy Garcia.
It is widely expected that Chris will be signed up for the roles as James T Kirk in the upcoming Star Trek movie, a role previously played by William Shatner in the TV series of the same name. He is also slated to star in a movie documenting the birth of the Napa Valley wine business, Bottle Neck in 2008.
