Cindy Margolis
This business savvy beauty was first noticed by agents when she put her own creative spin on a college assignment. Now in her forties, she has appeared on scores of magazine covers, worked in television, and holds the distinction of being the most downloaded woman ever, earning her the dubious title Queen of the Internet.
Born in Los Angeles, California on October 1, 1965, Margolis found her way into the glamorous world of modeling while attending California State University. When her business professor assigned a project to the class involving greeting cards, Cindy was inspired to develop and sell a line of cards featuring a picture of herself. When agents began asking where to find the blonde bombshell on the card, her modeling career was born.
Throughout the years, she has modeled in advertising for such iconic brand names as Reebok, Vidal Sassoon, and Hanes. Insomniacs know her best for her late night appearances in various infomercials, such as those for the products of Tony Robbins and Don Lapre.
Cindy is not merely an advertising model however, and she has worked on several television series. In 1995, she worked briefly on the long-running game show The Price Is Right, hosted by Bob Barker. Her stint as a Barker beauty was short-lived, but five years later she got her own late night Saturday talk show. The Cindy Margolis Show, filmed in Miami Beach, was also unsuccessful, lasting only a season. When the Internet was still an emerging technology, Margolis once again used her own business smarts to promote her flawless looks.
After creating her own website, she was named Queen of the Internet by Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine from 1996 to 1999, and found her way into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000 for being the most downloaded person of 1999. The record was broken the following year by Danni Ashe.
At thirty-four, when most models are exiting the industry, Margolis was at her peak of popularity. In a span of only twenty-four hours, she was downloaded 70,000 times. In November of 2005, Margolis joined the World Poker Tour as the new hostess for Chipleaders. The following year, she signed with Tropical Poker, and will represent them in press interviews and during the 2007 World Series of Poker.
She has appeared in the films Dead Above Ground, Chairman of the Board, and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, with the kooky Mike Myers; and she has also made an appearance as herself on Ally McBeal, starring Calista Flockhart. Margolis has been an inspiration to women everywhere by showing the world that forty is sexy. She is married to restaurateur Guy Starkman. In 2002, the couple had Nicolas Isaac, and in 2005, a surrogate mother gave birth to twin girls Sabrina and Sierra.
