Cuban-born beauty Daisy Fuentes was born on November 17, 1966, in Havana, Cuba. Fuentes moved to Madrid, Spain, when she was three years old, and immigrated to Harrison, New Jersey, four years later. In 1984, Fuentes graduating from Harrison High School, where she was crowned homecoming queen. She went on to attend Bergen Community College, where she studied communications and journalism, and then landed a hosting gig with WXTV Channel 41 weather. Fuentes quickly climbed the corporate ladder at the station, moving up to a position as news anchor and reporter for the evening news at just nineteen years old.
While reporting the evening news, Fuentes was noticed by MTV, who cast her as host of MTV Internacional (now called MTV Latino), and she became the channel’s first Latina VJ. Fuentes soon broadened her television work to include acting on ABC soap opera, Loving, followed by appearances on Dream On, The Larry Sanders Show, and Cybill. She also appeared in the 1996 Quentin Tarantino film Curdled, with William Baldwin and Kelly Preston.
In 1994, Fuentes hosted her own short-lived talk show, Daisy, on CNBC. She then went on to host America's Funniest Home Videos for three years, receiving an ALMA Award nomination for Outstanding Host. She has since hosted Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the 1998 World Music Awards, the 1999 Billboard Latin Awards, and the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, and Miss Universe pageants.
In addition to acting and hosting, Fuentes has served as a spokesmodel for American Express, Pantene, M&M's, Miller Lite, and Revlon, whose other spokesmodels include Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Halle Berry. Fuentes has also appeared on the covers of such magazines as Spanish Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Fitness, Latina, and Shape; and promoted a healthy, curvy physique with her own fitness videos as well as Mari Winsor pilates infomercials.
From 1991 to 1995, Fuentes was married to her high school sweetheart and fellow actor, Timothy Adams. She was later involved in a relationship with Luis Miguel, who has previously dated Mariah Carey. Fuentes is currently engaged to Matt Goss, ex-member of the 80s British band, Bros.
Fuentes also played on the World Poker Tour in the Hollywood Home games, raising money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital charity. For her for commitment to promoting breast cancer awareness, particularly in the Latino community, Fuentes was honored with an award at The Wellness Community West Los Angeles Tribute to the Human Spirit Awards.
