Drew Barrymore was born February 22, 1975, in Culver City, California. She was born into family with an acting heritage that spanned several generations. Her grandfather, John Barrymore, and her great-grandfather, Maurice Costello, were both established actors. Drew began acting at the tender age of eleven months in television commercials, and before long landed a starring role in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Suddenly thrust into the spotlight with the success of the film, at the age of seven, Drew Barrymore became the youngest guest to ever host Saturday Night Live.

Like many child actors, Barrymore suffered from the imbalance that stardom and childhood can bring, and began to walk a troubled path. She was drinking and using drugs before she was a teenager and bore the criticism brought on by media attention. Though she wouldn’t overcome her substance abuse problems until later and she starred in few other films during her youth, Drew Barrymore did receive a Golden Globe nomination at the age of nine for her role in Irreconcilable Differences.

Throughout her troubled youth, Drew Barrymore managed to maintain her presence in Hollywood. As she matured with age, she also developed an advantage some would say she misused when she turned herself into a young sex symbol playing the role of a teenage seductress in Poison Ivy in 1992 and then appearing nude in the January 1995 issue of Playboy magazine. It was that same year when she gave David Letterman the notorious birthday flash.

Since then, Barrymore has starred in several successful Hollywood films including Batman Forever; The Wedding Singer, co-starring Adam Sandler; Never Been Kissed, with Michael Vartan, David Arquette, Molly Shannon, and Leelee Sobieski; and the revival of the hit series Charlie’s Angels in the 2000 feature film Charlie’s Angels and its sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, with Cameron Diaz, Lucu Liu, Bill Murray, Luke Wilson, and others. In 2004 She co-starred with Adam Sandler a second time in 50 First Dates and in 2005 she starred with Jimmy Fallon in Fever Pitch. Drew has also tried her hand at producing and worked on both Charlie’s Angels along with Donnie Darko and Fever Pitch.

Much of Drew Barrymore’s personal life has been highly publicized. She has been married twice, the second time to comedian Tom Green, but he filed for divorce after a little over a year of marriage. Drew has publicly announced she is bisexual, but became engaged to Fabrizio Moretti, drummer for The Strokes, in 2004. At 2009, Drew had no children but is godmother to Courtney Love’s daughter by the late Kurt Cobain.
