Eddie Kay Thomas was born on October 31, 1980, in New York, New York. He showed a passion for acting at an extremely young age, beginning the craft when he was only seven years old. At ten, he appeared on stage in the Brooklyn Shakespeare Company production Richard III. Two short years later, he made his Broadway debut in Four Baboons Adoring the Sun. In 1997, Eddie appeared opposite Natalie Portman in the stage production of The Diary of Anne Frank.
Eddie soon turned his attention to the big screen and after appearing on an episode of the spooky children’s show Are You Afraid of the Dark?, he made his movie debut in the 1996 crime drama Illtown. In 1999, Kay had a leading role in the smash hit American Pie, whose cast also included Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Alyson Hannigan, Shannon Elizabeth, Seann William Scott, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eugene Levy, and party-girl Tara Reid. The comedy focuses on four friends who make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. Eddie’s character, Paul Finch, is the loveable nerd who can’t get a date, but ends up having a steamy night with his friend Stifler’s hot mom. Its risky humor and hilarious mishaps led the movie to be considered one of the funniest films in years, and spawned several sequels. Eddie appeared in two of these: American Pie 2 and American Wedding. His character is once again romantically entangled with the older woman.
In 1991, the same year that American Pie 2 was released, Eddie appeared alongside Canadian shock comic Tom Greene in the controversial Freddy Got Fingered. Thomas played the title character in the film, which was trashed by critics and hailed as one of the worst movies ever. His more successful films credits include the comedy Harold and Kumar Go to While Castle, Fifty Pills, and Dirty Love, which featured Jenny McCarthy, the current love interest of Jim Carrey. To date, his appearances as Finch have been by far the most successful. Kay’s upcoming films include On the Road with Judas and Blind Guy Driving. Eddie is also playing a starring role in the sitcom Til Death, which began airing in September of 2006. The sitcom also features Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garret and can be seen on Fox.
If Eddie Kay has a significant other in his life, he is not revealing it. So far at least, he has managed to keep the details of his personal life away from the infamous tabloid cameras.
