Although a model in her own right Elin is primarily known for being the wife of the professional golfer Tiger Woods since they married in 2004.

Born in Stockholm, Sweden on January 1^st 1980, to Thomas, a radio presenter and Barbra a politician and migration policy minister in Sweden. Her father has also served as bureau chief in Washington D.C. for the Swedish Broadcasting media. Elin has a twin sister Josefin.

Together the twins took up employment as nannies and while working for the Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik Elin, a blonde, blue-eyed part time model was introduced to Tiger in 2001 while he was playing in the British open in 2001.

By 2003 the couple were ready to announce their engagement and did so at the President’s Cup tournament in South Africa. Shortly after Elin said a definite ‘yes’ to Tiger, her father reported to a Swedish newspaper, "She called me yesterday morning and was incredibly happy, she is very engaged about becoming obscenely wealthy."

Their marriage took place one year later in Barbados. Tiger and Elin took over the whole hotel in Barbados and actually bought the island’s helicopter company in an effort to maintain complete privacy for their ceremony. The wedding took place at the 19^th hole (usually the watering hole on a golf course).

Just two years after their very private wedding ceremony the couple announced that they were expecting the arrival of their first child in June 2007. The baby girl arrived on June 18^th 2007 and was named Sam Alexis Woods. Woods told reporters that "Sam" was a nickname his father called him as a child. Tiger’s father, Earl, had died on May 6^th 2006 at his home in Cypress, California at the age of 74.

As with many celebrities, once Elin became known for being the partner of Woods, unsolicited publicity followed when photographs arrived on the internet depicting what was said to be Elin in nude shots. It later transpired that the photos were actually from a copy of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy magazine and were of model Kim Hiott. The Irish magazine The Dubliner also printed photos depicting Elin naked but after threats by Woods to take legal action the magazine issued an apology for the story.

Elin and Tiger currently reside in a four-hectare Florida waterfront estate which they purchased in 2006 for $54 million. The couple also own homes in Wyoming, Sweden and California. Elin’s neighbours include singer Celine Dion and her husband’s fellow golfers Nick Price and Greg Norman. The property includes four houses in addition to the main house, two houses for guests and a beach house as well as two boat docks to accommodate Tiger's 47-metre yacht.
