Eric SzmandaEric Kyle Szmanda, the great-nephew of former Menard’s pitchman Ray Szmanda, is best known as lab technician Greg Sanders in the hit series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He also provides the voice of his character, Greg, in the CSI video games.
He was born on July 24, 1975, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and in 2006 was named one of The Hot Guys of CSI, along with Carmine Giovinazzo of CSI: NY and Adam Rodriguez of CSI:Miami.
Eric is currently single much to the joy of some of his fans who are said to be so completely obsessed with him that they would go so far as to stalk him. In fact, two teenage girls once started rumors that he was dating a twenty-year-old by the name of Vreni Yahnke who turned out to be a made up person created from the letters of the names of the two girls.
Eric, whose nickname is Ercy, has a Golden Retriever named Dax, and likes to hike and surf.
He went to high school in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, where he acted in numerous plays and played the drums. He graduated in 1993. Later Eric went to Carroll College in Wisconsin and he also studied at and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California.
In 1998 he starred as Jacob "Sorcerer" Resh (episodes ten to twenty-two) in the television adaptation of Sandra Bullock’s 1995 film, The Net. He acted in the film Rules of Attraction in 2002 with James Van der Beek. In 2005, he starred as Luke in the mini-drama series Snow Wonder on CBS.
Eric has guest-starred on numerous television shows including Freaklinks, Oh Baby, The Division, Three Sisters, and Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane. He has also appeared on The View in 2002, The Tony Danza Show, and The Late Show with Craig Kilborn.
He has also done quite a bit of theater work, starring in the one-man show Hyenas at the Stages Theater Center in Hollywood, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and several regional productions of Black Box, La Indian Queen, and The Bullfight
Eric is a music fan, especially of Marilyn Manson. In 2003 he appeared in the music video for "Saint," a Marilyn Manson video that never aired in the United States. He also served as a music consultant on the feature film Life as a House in 2001.
