Felicity Huffman

Felicity Huffman is a very familiar face on television, and has acted in some movies as well. Born in 1962, in Bedford, New York, Felicity graduated from college and started her acting career in various TV shows.

The political drama The West Wing is one of the most popular shows around, and Felicity Huffman starred in an episode in 2001. It features regulars Martin Sheen and Rob Lowe. Two years later, Huffman was seen in hit comedy Frasier, in a recurring role as Frasier’s obnoxious girlfriend Julia. The show stars Kelsey Grammer, Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce, and John Mahoney.

The television series that has made Felicity Huffman a household name was Desperate Housewives, which made its debut to the public in 2004. The story of the dark underbelly of suburbia earned Felicity an Emmy Award for her role as Lynette. She is one of a group of troubled characters, the others being played by Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, and Nicollette Sheridan.

Movies are also a considerable part of Huffman’s resume. She had a small part in Reversal of Fortune in 1990, the true story of the Claus von Bulow murder trial, also starring Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, and Ron Silver and directed by Barbet Schroeder. Larger parts followed, including a role in the TV movie thriller, Quicksand: No Escape, directed by Michael Pressman and starring Donald Sutherland and Tim Matheson. Another TV movie, The Heart of Justice, was a murder story with an impressive cast. Directed by Bruno Barreto, it starred Vincent Price, Dennis Hopper, Dermot Mulroney, and Eric Stoltz.

In 1999, Felicity Huffman appeared in the drama Magnolia, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. It starred Julianne Moore, William H Macy, Tom Cruise, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Felicity acted in a comedy released in 2004 called Raising Helen, where she played opposite Kate Hudson, John Corbett, and Joan Cusack. The same year saw the release of Christmas with the Kranks, starring Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dan Aykroyd. It was directed by Joe Roth and adapted from a John Grisham novel.

Future projects for Felicity Huffman include another movie directed by Garry Marshall, set to release in 2007. Georgia Rule is another drama in which Huffman will star, and also includes Jane Fonda and Lindsay Lohan.

Felicity Huffman was once a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, when Oprah organized a big surprise for her. Felicity had said she was a huge fan of singing sensation Tina Turner, and Oprah brought Tina on the show to sing an impromptu duet together. The actor William H Macy is the husband of Felicity Huffman and they have two daughters.
