Fergie Biography Stacy Ferguson has made her name as the sexy female addition to the band the Black Eyed Peas. The young star is now making waves as a solo artist and also breaking into the world of films.
Stacy Ann Ferguson, also known as Fergie, was born on March 27, 1975, in Whittier, California. Her parents are Patrick Ferguson and Terri Gore and she also has one sister, Dana, who has become an actress. Growing up, Fergie worked as a child actress on the TV show, Kids Incorporated. She had one of the longest runs on the show of any of the cast members. Other than Kids Incorporated, Ferguson was also the voice of Sally Brown in the following Charlie Brown Specials: It’s Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown (1984) and Snoopy’s Getting Married, Charlie Brown (1985).
Ferguson’s first work in the music business was singing in the female trio of Wild Orchid, along with fellow Kids Incorporated cast mate, Renee Sands. The third member of the group was Stefanie Ridel. They formed the group in 1991 when they were all in their mid-teens and together released two albums and finished a third, which their record company refused to release. This led to Fergie’s emotional breakdown, causing her to leave the group in 2004.
After Fergie left Wild Orchid she began to recreationally use ecstasy; this eventually led to an addiction to crystal methamphetamine. At her lowest, the 5’ 4” singer weighed just ninety pounds. In order to keep people from becoming suspicious of her addiction, she would tell friends that she was bulimic. When she finally kicked her addiction, she said that crystal meth was the hardest boyfriend she had ever had to break up with. She blames becoming addicted to drugs on the stress involved with being a child star.
In 2003, Fergie took over the lead female vocalist position for the band, The Black Eyed Peas. Although this was only intended to be a temporary position until she began work on her solo act, she ended up becoming a permanent fixture in the group. The addition of Fergie was the final ingredient for success for the Black Eyed Peas.
By September of 2006, Fergie had become established enough in the music industry to successfully launch her first solo album, The Dutchess. She already has three hit singles from the album: "London Bridge," "Fergalicious," and "Glamorous." Although she has branched out from the Black Eyed Peas, she has by no means left the group and plans on continuing to record with them, switching back and forth between her solo efforts and the group.
Other than singing, Fergie has also recently broken into the movies. She had a small role in the 2006 remake of Poseidon, starring Emmy Rossum, Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas, Jacinda Barrett, and Richard Dreyfuss. Her next feature film appearance will be in 2007's Grind House, starring Rosario Dawson, Rose McGowan, and Kurt Russell among others.
