Flavor Flav

Previously known as a rap star with the group Public Enemy, Flavor Flav, is now best known as the kooky reality star looking for love with his very own reality show, Flavor of Love.

William Jonathan Drayton Jr. (also known as Flavor Flav) was born on March 16, 1959, in Roosevelt, New York, located on Long Island. After graduating high school he attended Adelphi University where he began developing his rap persona as MC DJ Flavor Flav. It was while he was in school that he met fellow student, Carlton Ridenhour (better known as Chuck D).

By the mid 1980s, Flavor Flav and Chuck D officially formed the rap group Public Enemy along with fellow rappers, DJ Terminator X and Professor Griff. Their debut album, Yo! Bum Rush the Show was released in 1987. Flav was the secondary vocalist, as well as the drummer who provided a comedic outlook on Chuck D’s more political lyrics. His unique style of rap influenced artists like Busta Rhymes and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Flavor Flav is known for bringing a comedic outlook to the group in all aspects of his being. His flamboyant attitude is complimented with the large clock that he usually wears around his neck. Other trademarks of the rapper include his large sunglasses, platinum grill, and the loud catchphrase, "Yeeeeeaaaahhhhh Boooyyyy!"

Other than his work with Public Enemy, Flav has completed three solo projects, all of which were rejected by his label, Def Jam records. He currently has a fourth album attempt in the works called Hollywood, which came out on Halloween of 2006.

After several years of hiatus in the entertainment industry, Flav resurfaced in 2004 as one of the cast members on the reality show The Surreal Life, which aired on VH1. While on the show he developed a relationship with fellow cast member Brigitte Nielsen, who is a Danish actress. The couple developed their own spin-off reality show called Strange Love, which ended when the couple’s constant fighting ended their relationship.

Following his split with Nielsen, Flav developed another reality show with VH1 known as Flavor of Love in January of 2006. The show is similar to The Bachelor with twenty women going on dates with Flav and Flav voting them off until there is only one left. At the end of the first season he chose Hoopz as his winner, but when their relationship ended off screen, Flav came back for season two. At the end of the second season he chose Deelishis, with whom he is romantically linked.

To date, Flavor Flav has six children and has rumored to have never paid child support for any of them. He announced in early November 2006 that he is expecting a seventh child "with a shorty in Las Vegas" that he claims is not one of the Flavor of Love ladies. He has said on more than one occasion that he would like to have at least four children more before he dies.
