Hazel-eyed, brown-haired British actress Gemma Atkinson is best known for playing the role of Lisa Hunter in the teenage British soap opera Hollyoaks.

Hollyoaks began in 1995 in the fictional United Kingdom suburb of Chester. It was filmed at the Mersey Television studios near Liverpool. The show was created by Phil Redmond who also devised the British soap opera, Brookside and the children’s drama, Grange Hill.

Gemma’s character, Lisa Hunter, is the troubled youngest child of the Hunter family who routinely cut herself and was stalked by a jealous ex-boyfriend. Gemma acted the role of Lisa from 2001 to 2005.

When Gemma’s character fell in love with her dead older brother’s best friend, Ben Davies (played by Marcus Patric), the storyline had the two leave Chester together to find a place of their own, away from all their troubles. Gemma and her co-star left Hollyoaks to appear on their own spin off show, Hollyoaks: Let Loose.

In 2006 Gemma starred again as Lisa Hunter in Hollyoaks: In the City, a continuation of 2005’s Hollyoaks: Let Loose.

Born on November 16, 1984, in Bury, Greater Manchester, Gemma graduated from Castlebrook High School. Shortly after graduation she pursued modeling.

Modeling proved to be successful for Gemma. As her acting career grew, Gemma made a name for herself as a glamour model by posing in sexy lingerie and swimwear for provocative photo shoots for men’s magazines such as Arena, FHM, Loaded, Maxim, Zoo Weekly, and Nuts. Some of her poses included non-nude topless shots.

Gemma has been quoted as saying she wants to be the next Jordan (Katie Price), an English glamour model who is considered by some as Britain’s equivalent to Canadian/American Pamela Anderson.

Jordan is known for her multiple breast augmentation surgeries, and Gemma seems to be following in her footsteps. In early 2006 Gemma had breast enlargement surgery to increase her bust size to a 34D. She is currently making plans to have another surgery in 2007 to further increase her chest size.

In 2005 Gemma had a role in British rapper Goldie Lookin Chain’s "R'n'B" music video. She played his love interest and is also featured on the cover of the single.

In 2006 she signed up to star in the UK reality series, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! The British press named Gemma as one of the tallest celebrities who ever signed up for the show. She’s five foot nine.

In October of the same year she appeared in three popular men’s magazines in one month, giving her the title of one of the most prolific celebrity glamour models in the United Kingdom.

Gemma has dated actor Cleveland Campbell. She is currently living in Cheshire with football player Marcus Bent, who broke off his engagement to fiancée Kelly Clark only months before the wedding in order to be with Gemma.
