George Eads Bio

George Eads

The actor George Eads, best known for his role as Nick Stokes in the television forensic drama, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, was born on March 1, 1967, in Fort Worth, Texas, with the lofty name of George Coleman Eads III.

George’s mother is Vivian Baker, a superintendent of Belton Schools, and his father is the Waco, Texas, District attorney Arthur "Cappy" Eads. Arthur was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1967 and practices in personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, insurance bad faith, commercial, and consumer litigation.

Arthur Eads was also past president of the National District Attorneys’ Association (NCAA). His son, George has made it well known that he is very proud of what his father does and thanks him for teaching him the importance of strong values, honesty, and seeking the truth in the criminal justice system. In 2002 George narrated the first in a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for the organization.

George graduated from Belton High School in 1985. He then went on to study at Texas Tech University where he graduated in 1990 with a degree in marketing. While in college he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, which is the same fraternity that Survivor: The Australian Outback runner-up Colby Donaldson belonged to.

A traumatic experience on a job during George’s college years turned out to help him act convincingly many years later during an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. One night while working at a hamburger joint he was robbed at gunpoint by two guys who put the gun to his forehead. He used this experience as an inspiration when a gun was held to his head in the CSI episode Who Are You?

Other jobs George had prior to his acting career taking off include a job as a copy machine salesman and a job cleaning and putting away weights in a gym.

He got his start in acting by doing modeling and commercials in Texas. But George didn’t actively pursue acting until after he finished college. In 1994 he borrowed a pickup with broken headlights from his step dad, and made his way to Los Angeles, California.

He has appeared in several television shows including ER, Strange Luck, and Savannah. George has also performed in a few made-for-television movies including Crowned and Dangerous in 1997, with Yasmine Bleeth. The move also starred Angela Lambert and Scott Foley, and was produced in part by Tony Danza.

In 2004 George played in the film Evel Knievel. While filming the movie he broke his thumb and was attended to by Monica Casey, a registered nurse from Toronto. He also had to shave his hair for the filming due to unspecified hair problems. Later Monica Casey accompanied him to award ceremonies in Hollywood.

Also in 2004, George was temporarily fired from CSI for failing to show up for work in what appeared to be a hold out for more money. George said that he didn’t show up because he overslept, not because he thought he wasn’t being paid enough.

When George was hired for his role as Nick Stokes in the drama CSI, it took him a while to get used to the scenes of death. All the scenery of corpses gave him nightmares including an eerily silent dream featuring splattered blood and huge block letters spelling DOA.

While filming the Tarantino 2005 CSI season finale where he is buried alive, George was featured in an anti-dandruff L'Oreal shampoo advertisement that was aired during the show.

He lives with his yellow labrador retriever, Maverick, in Santa Monica.
