George Hamilton Bio

George Hamilton

This suave American television and film actor is sometimes confused with Warren Beatty. Known for having a perpetual tan and loving cigars, Hamilton has graced the Hollywood scene for over five decades.

George Hamilton was born August 12, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee. He caught the acting bug early, and won an award for best actor for his work in a high school production. In 1952, he made his first on screen appearance in the western Lone Star, which starred screen legends Clark Gable and Ava Gardner.

His first appearance launched a successful movie career that would span an incredible five decades. More notable appearances from Hamilton’s lasting career include those in the cult classic Sextette, starring Mae West, Timothy Dalton, Ringo Starr, and Alice Cooper; his supporting role in The Godfather Part III, starring Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, and Andy Garcia; and the Eugene Levy directed comedy Once Upon a Crime, starring John Candy, James Belushi, and Cybill Shephard. More recently, he appeared in The L.A. Riot Spectacular, the cast of which also included Snoop Dogg and Emilio Estevez.

Over the years, Hamilton has built an impressive list of television appearances. He starred in the short lived soap opera The Survivors, and then made guest appearances on numerous series and productions. In 1985, Hamilton took on a starring role in the soap opera Dynasty, although he only stayed for a single season. The series, which has often been compared to Dallas, was produced by Aaron Spelling, and starred John Forsythe and Linda Evans.

George continues to work in television. In 2003, he was the host for the reality series The Family, which featured an Italian-American family battling it out for a one million dollar cash prize. He was a contestant on the ABC surprise hit Dancing With the Stars, finishing in round six of the competition. In his late sixties, Hamilton did not have the physical ability to do many of the dances, but used his natural charm and charisma to progress in the contest. Fellow celebrity competitors during that season were Stacy Keibler, Jerry Rice, and Drew Lachey. It is rumored that George will be auditioning to replace Bob Barker as the host of The Price is Right, but right now he’s keeping busy doing television commercials for Ritz Chips and Wheat Thins.

In his personal life, the smooth Hamilton has had a number of lady friends. He married Alana Stewart, a California actress, in 1972. The marriage lasted only a few short years, ending in 1975. During their marriage, Alana gave birth to son, Ashley, who is now an actor and musician. Ashley was married to both Angie Everhart and bad girl Shannen Doherty, making George father-in-law at one time to both actresses. His youngest son, George Thomas Hamilton, was born during his relationship with Kimberly Blackford. He dated romance novelist Danielle Steel, and the pair actually announced plans to marry, but broke it off in 1999.  George is also said to have a close friendship with Imelda Marcos, the former first lady of the Phillipines, although whether it progressed beyond that level is unclear.

If he has a woman in his life right now, Hamilton is not releasing any details. However, if Barker’s beauties become Hamilton’s beauties in the near future, we’re sure the smooth and debonair Hamilton won’t mind being single for a while.
