Gina Philips American actress Gina Philips has attracted attention for more than just her stunning looks. She also made waves with a well-received stint on Ally McBeal as well as a leading turn in the popular horror film Jeepers Creepers. Gina Consolo, known popularly as Gina Philips, was born May 10, 1970 in Miami Beach, Florida. Her parents are Fredi Consolo and Robert Consolo, and she has one sibling, a brother named Bobby Consolo. She is the only person in her family to pursue acting. Attending the University of Pennsylvania, she dropped out just one class shy of graduating in order to focus on her burgeoning acting career. She was, however, allowed to walk with her class because she was so close to graduating. Philips made her onscreen debut in 1992 with a one-episode appearance on the popular television series Growing Pains opposite Alan Thicke, Joanna Kerns, Kirk Cameron, Ashley Johnson, and a then unknown Leonardo DiCaprio.
She followed with more television work and bit parts in film. These projects included appearances on Blossom, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Silk Stalkings while her early film projects were When the Bough Breaks with Ally Walker and Martin Sheen and Love, Honor & Obey: The Last Mafia Marriage in 1993. But it wasn’t until 1995 that her career really started to pick up. In that year, she appeared in three separate film projects. Starting with Crosstown Traffic, she followed with Breaking Free opposite Jeremy London and Christine Taylor. She closed out the year with Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare with Robert Hays and Ryan Phillippe. After sporadic work on the big and small screen for the next four years, Philips finally landed a recurring role on a network show. The visibility from her thirteen-episode appearance on Ally McBeal helped make her a recognizable face to entertainment seeking audiences. Series regulars included Calista Flockhart, Courtney Thorne Smith, Greg Germann, Jane Krakowski, Portia de Rossi, and Lucy Liu.
She furthered her success with another recurring role. This time it was for the school-centered television drama Boston Public, which starred Chi McBride and Loretta Devine. Her biggest role, however, came in the form of a 2001 horror film called Jeepers Creepers. Along with her costars Justin Long and Jonathan Breck, the film really put the young actors on the acting map. After declining to reprise her role for the sequel, Jeepers Creepers II, Philips opted instead for the horror film Ring Around the Rosie. Despite a strong costar in Tom Sizemore, the film fell flat and impressed neither critics nor audiences. She had better luck opposite Sean Astin in the comedy Thanks to Gravity, but she had another miss with the horror flick The Sick House. Her latest project was a guest appearance on Monk with star Tony Shalhoub. Philips does not currently have any projects in the works. In her personal life, she has been romantically linked to fellow actor Johnny Whitworth from 1996 through 1999. |
