Ginnifer Goodwin Biography

Not the best known actress on the Hollywood scene to date, but with her recent appearance in the successful movie, He’s Just Not That Into You, she’ll be one of the hottest commodities in Los Angeles in the not too distant future.

Ginnifer Goodwin was born to a Federal Express worker mother, Linda and a recording studio operator, Tim Goodwin. Goodwin was the first born daughter to the family on May 22nd 1978 and later joined by younger sister Melissa Goodwin.

Born in Memphis Tennessee, Ginnifer grew up in a predominantly Jewish community and was affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth and was active in the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO), an independent Jewish youth group for teenagers in high school.

Following her graduation from Lausanne Collegiate School in 1996 Ginnifer moved on to the East coast and attended Boston University where she excelled in the fine arts and picked up a bachelor of Fine Arts with honours in 2001 for her acting prowess.

With a talent for acting and a passion for the arts Goodwin  was soon sought after for roles in several television shows such as Law & Order and Ed. But her true acting ability showed through when she was chosen for the role of Constance "Connie" Baker in Mona Lisa Smile where she starred alongside Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Julia Stiles and Tori Amos.

Other predominant roles arrived in the shape of Cathy Feely in Win a Date With Tad Hamilton where she starred with Kate Bosworth, Topher Grace, and Josh Duhamel, then in 2005 Ginnifer found herself in the biopic about Johnny Cash, Walk the Line, with Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon and Robert Patrick, where she played the role of Johnny’s wife, Vivian Cash.

Goodwin also played Dori Dumchovic in the dark comedy Love Comes to the Executioner and was in the supporting role as Margene Heffman, the third wife in a polygamous family in Big Love, an HBO TV series.

But it was the February 2009 movie, He’s Just Not That Into You, starring Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson and Drew Barrymore that really put Ginnifer on the map as an actress.

Until December 2008 Ginnifer had dated actor Chris Klein for two years but they parted company leaving Ginnifer to relish the accolade of being honored as the "Face of the Future" award which recognizes women in film excellence.

The fashion chain store Gap also announced that Goodwin would be the face of Gap's Fall 2008 ad campaign a position held in the past by Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker.
