Goldie Hawn is loved by audiences and critics alike for her comedic talent and bubbly personality. The focus of her career has been making people laugh, but she started out as a dancer. Hawn was born in 1945 in Washington DC, and attended dance classes as a little girl. Later, after dropping out of university, she taught in and managed a ballet school. By 1965, she was working in New York City as a professional dancer.

Shampoo, released in 1975, was the film that every Hollywood actress wanted to be in. Directed by Hal Ashby, it starred the gorgeous Warren Beatty as the hairdresser who had a string of women, including Goldie Hawn and Julie Christie. It also featured veteran actor Jack Warden.
In 1980, Goldie Hawn took the lead in the modern, comedy classic Private Benjamin. Directed by Howard Zieff, Goldie gave a terrific performance as a struggling rookie soldier. Armand Assante was her love interest and Eileen Brennan her army superior.
In 1999 Goldie starred with Steve Martin in the comedy film The Out of Towners, in which Steve Martin plays an advertising man on his quest for an interview in Manhattan, and Goldie plays his wacky wife who feels the spark has gone from their marriage.
Swing Shift was a film that holds great significance for Goldie Hawn, because she co-starred with Kurt Russell who became her life partner. Directed by Jonathan Demme, it was a drama that also featured Ed Harris and Fred Ward. Goldie made another movie with Kurt, when they did Overboard. It also starred Roddy McDowall and was directed by Garry Marshall.
Goldie Hawn has been married twice, firstly to Gus Trikonis and then to Bill Hudson. Goldie and Bill were divorced in 1980, after having two children together.
