Gwyneth Paltrow Biography Gwyneth Paltrow is an academy-award winning actress, occasional singer, and the face for a top-selling Estee Lauder perfume. However, in recent years, this paparazzi-hating, yoga-practicing vegan has stepped away from the glamour of Hollywood to concentrate on the role she loves best: being a mom. Gwyneth Paltrow was born on September 28, 1972, in Los Angeles, California. Before deciding to become an actress, Paltrow attended the University of California in Santa Barbara where she studied art history. After deciding to quit college, she did not have to wait long to secure her rightful place in film. In 1991, the same year Gwyneth dropped out of school, she appeared in Shout, her first film. That year Paltrow also had a small role in Steven Spielberg’s Hook. Her performance in the 1996 film Emma was praised by critics, but it was her Academy Award winning role in the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love that brought her true critical acclaim. Since this time she has appeared in over a dozen films, including The Talented Mr. Ripley and Shallow Hal.
Gwyneth Paltrow has been romantically linked to several of Hollywood’s leading men. She had a serious relationship with Brad Pitt, the former husband of Jennifer Aniston and current boyfriend of Angelina Jolie. They were engaged in late 1996 but ended the relationship a short six months later. Their relationship enjoyed its share of scandal when naked pictures of the couple appeared in several magazines. After her split with Brad, Gwyneth dated Ben Affleck, movie star and former love interest of Jennifer Lopez, for a short time. Robert Sean Leonard, who appeared in the 1989 film Dead Poet’s Society, was another of Paltrow’s former love interests. Leonard current plays Dr. James Wilson on the hit television show House. Gwyneth’s circle of friends includes singer Madonna, fashion designer Valentino, and director Steven Spielberg. She was once best friends with Winona Ryder and has a current friendship with Christina Applegate. Paltrow is now married to Chris Martin, the lead singer of the massively popular British group Coldplay. Since their wedding in 2003, the couple has had two children. Their daughter, Apple, was born in London in 2004. Moses, their most recent addition, was born in April of 2006 in New York. Motherhood seems to have changed Gwyneth. She doesn’t have a nanny for her children, preferring instead to perform her own motherly duties. She has taken time away from film, she says by choice, to spend time with Apple and Moses. Although Paltrow is set to appear in several upcoming movies, she has opted to devote most of her time and efforts to her growing family.
