Harry Hamlin With the title of ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ in 1987 having been bestowed upon him by People Magazine, this actor has certainly shown plenty of women in Hollywood just how sexy he really is. Born on October 30th 1951 in Pasadena, California to Chauncey and Bernice Hamlin. Although born in California Harry attended Hill School boarding school in Pottstown, Pennsylvania where he enjoyed being part of the lacrosse and soccer teams. Harry took a big interest in the school’s musicals and plays. After school Harry went on to attend the University of California, Berkeley and became an alumnus of the Theta Zeta chapter of the national fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon. He also attended Yale where he graduated in 1974 with a BA in Theater and Psychology, from Yale University. Harry Hamlin’s list of relationships and marriages through the years reads like a who’s who of soap opera stars and actresses. In 1981, after meeting on the set of Clash of the Titans, where he played Perseus and starred opposite Maggie Smith and Laurence Olivier, Harry became ensconced in a relationship with the first Bond Girl Ursula Andress with whom he had a son Dimitri in 1980. The relationship ended and Harry moved on to marry actress Laura Johnson until they divorced and then once again he married yet another actress, Nicolette Sheridan of Knots Landing and Desperate Housewives fame. Again, the marriage ended in divorce in 1993.
In 1991 Harry was one of the stars, athletes and musicians who banded together on the single "Voices That Care" the song, written by David Foster, Linda Thompson and Peter Cetera was used in supporting a documentary that was intended to help boost the morale of US troops involved in Operation Desert Storm, under President George W H Bush, as well as supporting the International Red Cross organization. In 1997 Harry finally married the women with whom he has remained since, Lisa Rinna of Days of Our Lives fame and one of Hugh Hefner’s former Playboy cover girls. Rinna was also a former star of Melrose Place along with Kristin Davis, Heather Locklear and Marcia Cross. The couple have two children together, Delilah and Ameilia. During his acting career Harry has appeared in several made for TV movies as well as big screen movies which to date have never proved to be very successful for him. He revived his flagging movie career with a move to the small screen when he played lawyer Michael Kuzak in L.A Law in 1986-1991 starring with John Spencer and Corbin Bernsen, which once again brought him back into the public eye. Hamlin picked up three Golden Globe nominations for his role in L.A. Law. Harry also had a brief encounter with Broadway when in 1984, he made his debut in the revival of Clifford Odets’ “Awake and Sing!”
He maintained his presence on the small screen in 1992 by having voice-over work on two episodes of “Batman: The Animated Series.” In August 2006 Lisa Rinna announced that Hamlin would be following in her footsteps and performing on the third season of Dancing with the Stars, in which he lasted only a few weeks before he was voted off the program in September of that year. Lisa competed in the second season of Dancing with the Stars and was eliminated in Round Seven, although she had higher marks from the judges than fellow celebrity dancer Jerry Rice. ABB |
