Haylie Duff Biography American singer and actress Haylie Duff might not be quite as popular as her famous sister, Hilary Duff, but she certainly captured the hearts of audiences with her performances in Napoleon Dynamite and 7th Heaven. Haylie Katherine Duff was born February 19, 1985 in Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Susan Duff and Robert Erhard Duff, a film producer and convenience store business man respectively. Arguably, Duff has garnered just as much attention for her career as she has for being the older sister of teen sensation, Hilary Duff. Famous sister or not, Duff has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She made her onscreen debut in 1997 with True Women, which featured the all star cast of Dana Delany, Annabeth Gish, Angelina Jolie, Tina Majorino, and Rachael Leigh Cook.
She followed with another very minor role in the Goldie Hawn directed Hope. She then turned her sights to television where she had a two episode stint with Boston Public. While with the David E Kelley created hit, she shared the screen with Chi McBride, Loretta Devine, Anthony Heald, and many others. She also capitalized on the rising star of her sister when she appeared for three episodes on her runaway hit series Lizzie McGuire. Taking whatever parts she could get, Duff had another small film role opposite Judy Greer, Joshua Jackson, Jason Lee, and Giovanni Ribisi in the independent drama I Love Your Work. But 2004 was her breakout year when she took the role of Summer Wheatly in Napoleon Dynamite. The film starred Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, Jon Gries, and her former screen costar Majorino. Riding off the unexpected success of this film, Duff next landed a recurring role on 7th Heaven in 2005. She portrayed Sandy Jameson until 2007. She then appeared in the 2007 comedy/drama My Sexiest Year with Frankie Muniz, Harvey Keitel, and Christopher McDonald. Proving a hot commodity, Duff is in varying stages of production for six projects. She has currently completed Legacy, Backwoods, and Foodfight!
Not always finding success in her choice of roles, Duff earned two Razzie nominations for Material Girl in 2006. On the music front, Duff co-wrote many of the song on the 2003 album Metamorphosis. She is currently working on her own album, which is tentatively entitled Masquerade. Ruffling some feathers, Duff appeared on the January 2006 cover of Maxim. She is also part of the “Girls of Maxim.” In her personal life, she has been romantically linked to Erik von Detten, Kevin Connolly, Brody Jenner, and Aj Discala. |
