Helena Christensen By far one of the most beautiful of the 1990’s elite group of supermodels, Helena Christensen has had a far from predictable life Helena was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on December 28th 1968 to a Danish father and a Peruvian mother. Although Helena started modeling when she was nine years old her main interest when growing up was to become a musician. When Helena was eighteen she entered the Miss Denmark contest which she won and then went on to represent Denmark in the Miss Universe pageant in 1986. Both these experiences catapulted her into the world of modeling and she was soon on her way to the catwalks of Paris. Along with many other high profile models such as Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, Helena was in the Victoria's Secret catalog and in their television commercials. John Galliano once commented that Helena Christensen fills clothes with life and fire and the late Gianni Versace said she had the most beautiful body. During her career Helena has modeled for Vogue and Elle magazines and was the face of Helena Rubenstein cosmetics.
In 1991 Helena was cast for the accompanying video to ‘Wicked Game’, the Chris Isaac single. The video was shot on the dark sands and surf of Hawaii where Helena plays the woman who wrongs Isaak. In the video she frolics along the beach, while Isaak croons about their love affair nearby. ‘Wicked Game’ is still regularly aired on music channels, and was recently selected as the Sexiest Video of All-Time by MTV. In her personal life Helena had a short lived relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio. Before DiCaprio, Helena lived with the front man for the band INXS, Michael Hutchence after he was broke off his relationship with Australian singer Kylie Minogue. In 1999, while married to male model Norman Reedus, Helena gave birth to a son, Mingus. Norman and Helena split in 2003, and divorced in 2004. Christensen dated Danish rock band Grand Avenue front man Rasmus Walter-Hansen from 2004 to 2006. Helena and her friend Leif Sigersen co-own a store in Manhattan called Butik, and have together launched their own clothing line, Christensen & Sigersen. Helena divides her time between her homes in Copenhagen and Manhattan. ABB |
