Jaclyn Smith With her first career choice, at the age of three to become a ballerina, Jaclyn Smith has throughout her acting career utilized all the grace and style of a dancer in everything she has done. Considered one of the most beautiful women in the world by People magazine in 1984, it is only fitting that she will forever be remembered as an “Angel’. A native of Houston, Texas, Jaclyn Smith was born on October 26th 1947 to Jack, an Irish dentist and her mother Margaret. She graduated from high school in Houston in 1964 and originally aspired to be a famous ballerina after having put on her first pair of bally pumps when she was just 3 years old, but went on to study drama at Trinity University where she was soon being cast in productions such as ‘Westside Story” and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.’ Still with a passion for dance Jaclyn relocated to New York to pursue her dreams but once in the Big Apple she was spotted by an agent who believed her classic beauty made her a natural for television cameras and Jaclyn Smith soon came into American homes as the Breck Girl, which led to relationships with Wella Balsam and Max Factor beauty products. In 1989 Jaclyn launched her own signature perfume which was voted the best mass produced scent in that year. Soon Jaclyn was on her way to Hollywood and in 1976 she landed the role of Kelly Garrett in the popular TV series, Charlie’s Angels, starring alongside, Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and later, Cheryl Ladd, in the series where three little girls left the police academy to become Angels who worked for Charlie who’s voice was played by John Forsythe.
While in Hollywood Jaclyn earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the wife of President John F Kennedy, in the self titled movie, “Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy” Much of Jaclyn’s career in Hollywood has been spent performing in television series such as ’McCloud’, ‘Rage of Angels’, ‘The Rookies’ and “George Washington’ which have earned her the title “Queen of Mini-Series.” One of her personal favourite roles was that of the title character in ‘Florence Nightingale.’ For more than three decades Jaclyn has compiled an impressive filmography of more than 50 films and TV appearances.In 1989 Jaclyn was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. More recently, she co-starred in the CBS drama, “The District” portraying DA, Vanessa Cavanaugh, she has also appeared on episodes of “Hope & Faith,” and starred as Judge Kay Woodbury in Hallmark's production of “Ordinary Miracles,” also starring Corbin Bernsen which aired in May 2005. In 1985, Jaclyn entered the business world with the introduction of her collection of women's fashion for Kmart stores. She pioneered the concept of celebrities developing their own Brands rather than merely endorsing others. In 2002, along with fashion, Jaclyn also developed a range of home furnishings featuring textiles, linen and wall coverings. Jaclyn has been married four times. In 1972 she married actor Roger David but the marriage ended in divorce in 1975. Jaclyn then proceeded to marry another actor, Dennis Cole, in 1978 which led to another divorce in 1981. In 1991, her former step-son Joe Cole was shot to death in his home during a robbery attempt.
1983 brought her marriage to film maker Anthony Richmond with whom she had two children, Spencer Margaret and Gaston, they divorced in 1989. Jaclyn finally married Dr. Brad Allen on October 11, 1997, Brad is a pediatric heart surgeon who works out of Chicago, Illinois. In 2002 Jaclyn under went a lumpectomy after 2 lumps were found in her breasts. She underwent radiation which has shown to be successful. Jaclyn Smith reprised her Kelly Garrett role in a short cameo in the 2003 Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle which starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. ABB |
