Jade Goody Biography

English television personality Jade Goody found herself in the limelight by virtue of stints on Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother. Consistently instigating controversy and drama, Goody became as known for her bad in-house behavior as her subsequent professional endeavors.

Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody was born June 5, 1981 in Bermondsey, London, England.

An unknown until 2002, Goody broke into the public eye when she won a spot on England’s version of the reality series Big Brother.

Formerly a dentist assistant, Goody auditioned for the show and joined housemates Adele Roberts, Tim Culley, Sandy Cumming, Lee Davey, and others. She also shared the limelight with narrator Marcus Bentley and presenter Davina McCall.

Proving a difficult housemate, Goody quickly became the person England loved to hate. She found herself particularly lambasted in various tabloids for her lack of basic English knowledge. When questioned, for example, about the location of Cambridge, Goody conjectured that it was located in London.

With her newfound notoriety, Goody kept herself in the public eye through various channels. This included participating in the London Marathon, for which she underwent a scant four training sessions. She confided to English chef Gordon Ramsay that her pre-marathon diet consisted of little else than Chinese, curry, and liquor.

The lack of commitment showed when Goody collapsed at mile twenty-one. She was taken to and treated at the Royal London Hospital.

She also released an autobiography entitled Jade: My Autobiography, which hit shelves in May of 2006.

Shortly after, she premiered her new fragrance Shh… Doing extremely well, it was only outsold by perfumes devised by Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue.

Finding work with NOW magazine as well, she provided a weekly column to the publication.

Back on the small screen, 2006 brought the documentary series Just Jade. Unfortunately, the short-lived program was a complete miss. It was widely panned by critics and the few people that actually watched the show.

Between 2004 and 2006, she also made several guest appearances on The Paul OGrady Show.

But it was 2007 that offered Goody even more exposure (although not all positive). In this year, she was enlisted in Celebrity Big Brother alongside Shilpa Shetty, Jack Tweed, Jo OMeara, Danielle Lloyd, Jermaine Jackson, Dirk Benedict, and others.

Controversy broke out in the house when Goody made several comments to Shetty, which were undoubtedly derogatory and potentially racist. The backlash of complaints and ill will toward Goody got her evicted from the house on January 19.

Jade has two sons, Bobby, five, and four-year-old Freddie from her relationship with Jeff Brazier but it has been her on/off relationship with Jack Tweed that gripped the public's interest.

Following Jade's success on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother, she was subsequently asked to be part of Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother. A few days after entering the house, however, Goody was informed she had cervical cancer. Executives decided not to air her emotional reaction.

Her book which was released in late 2008 was called Jade: Living and Learning. But Jade's living was soon to be put into question as she received the news in early 2009, following months of chemotherapy, that her illness was terminal.

Knowing her life was to be cut short at the age of 27, Jade went full speed ahead and arranged her marriage to Jack amid huge national and international interest.

The couple were married on February 22nd 2009 at Down Hall country manor, in Hatfield Heath, Essex, England.
