Jamie Lynn Sigler was born on May 15, 1981, in Jericho, New York. Interested in acting from a young age, Jamie appeared in stage productions of Annie, The Sound of Music, and Gypsy. In 1999, she won her signature role as Meadow on the acclaimed but controversial HBO series The Sopranos, which also starred James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, Edie Falco as Tony’s wife, and Robert Iler as Meadow’s brother. The daughter of mafia kingpin Tony Soprano, Meadow is an intelligent and successful woman. The series often focused on her struggles to accept the type of family in to which she was born. The Sopranos enjoyed a lengthy and successful run, winning several Emmy Awards and receiving scores of nominations until the airing of the final season in 2006.
It seems as though Sigler will have no trouble finding roles in the future, however, despite the fact that many associate her automatically with Meadow. During her time on the series, Sigler took on several acting gigs such as appearances on Will and Grace, with Eric McCormack and Debra Messing; a starring role in Lovewrecked, with Amanda Bynes and Chris Carmack; and also a starring role in a television biopic about legendary call girl Heidi Fleiss. Her portrayal as Belle in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast lasted for five months, beginning in 2002. Jamie’s recently released or upcoming films include Dark Ride and New York City Serenade, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Chris Klein.
Perhaps the low point in Sigler’s career was the release of her pop album Here to Heaven in 2001. Featuring the single Cry Baby, the album was met with unfavorable reviews by critics and sales were lackluster. Sigler later admitted that she regretted making the album, calling it a mistake.
Despite being so young, Sigler has also faced some serious personal problems. During her time on The Sopranos, Sigler was secretly battling anorexia. Her struggles with the illness prompted her to become a spokesperson for the National Eating Disorders Association, an organization to inform people about eating disorders and also help those who may be struggling with them.
In 2003, Jamie married her decade older agent A J DiScala. She took his name, and emphasized she made the decision to do so because she was a very "traditional girl." However, she has since filed for divorce from her husband. Reportedly, Sigler is now involved with Scott Sartiano, a night club owner.
