Janice Dickinson Bio

Janice Dickinson Biography

Janice Dickinson is a controversial figure, known for her volatile nature. She is very outspoken and is remembered for her outbursts on live TV. Dickinson has also been very open about having cosmetic surgery and speaks freely regarding her drug and alcohol problems. She became famous as a model, standing at five feet and nine and a half inches. Born in 1955 in Brooklyn, the family moved to Hollywood, Florida, in 1957. After high school graduation, Dickinson modeled in New York and Europe, posing for magazine covers from Vogue to Playboy. She was also hired by Versace to promote their brand of perfume. When the modeling career was over, Dickinson didn’t rest on her laurels. Instead, she explored different career paths and became a judge on the reality television show, America’s Next Top Model, eventually being replaced by Twiggy. Later, she worked on the series as a fashion photographer and posed with Eva Pigford, who had won in the third season.

Dickinson is a familiar face on TV, having become a well known personality on different shows. She has appeared on Howard Stern, The Tyra Banks Show and The Sharon Osbourne Show. The year 2005 was very busy for Dickinson. She appeared in the fifth series of reality show The Surreal Life, in which she feuded with Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth. She also guest starred on the popular Charmed, starring Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano. Janice participated in the Fashion for Relief Show to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina victims. Other participants included Kelly Osbourne, Naomi Campbell, Wyclef Jean, Rachel Hunter, and Beyonce Knowles. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were two of the celebrities supporting the event.

The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency is the model’s latest venture, combining her experience in the modeling world with business skills. She appeared in a show which followed the opening of the agency. Dickinson has actually stated that she invented the concept of the supermodel, but the consensus is that there were five original supermodels and she wasn’t one of them. They are Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Christy Turlington.

Dickinson has been divorced three times. Her third husband was TV producer Simon Fields and together they have one son, Nathan Fields, who is an actor and producer. Janice also has a daughter from her relationship with producer Michael Birnbaum. Sylvester Stallone is a former fiancée and her current boyfriend is Saturday Night Live star, Jon Lovitz. Her sister, Debbie Dickinson, is also a model.
