Jeff Goldblum Jeff Goldblum is easily recognized, on screen and off, by his quirky, yet strangely appealing appearance and demeanor. With both the look and personality to match his frequently eccentric yet intellectual roles, Goldblum has appeared in many notable films and many more that have gone unnoticed. With a young start on the stages of New York to the silver screen of Hollywood, Goldblum is one of the most intriguing and surprising actors in tinsel town. Born as Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum on October 22, 1952, in Pennsylvania, at the age of seventeen, Goldblum moved to New York to pursue acting. He began studying the craft at the Neighborhood Playhouse under the advisement of acting coach Sanford Meisner. Goldblum’s Broadway debut was in a production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Goldblum tackled his acting career knowing he also had talent as a musician that he could fall back on if necessary. As fate would have it, Goldblum’s acting career was successful. Goldblum appeared in the 1978 remake Invasion of the Body Snatchers followed by a huge hit with his role in the ensemble film The Big Chill, also starring Jo Beth Williams, William Hurt, Tom Berenger, and Meg Tilly. He had the leading role in The Fly, which also starred Geena Davis, whom Goldblum married shortly after filming. Goldblum also appeared in other lesser-known films throughout the 1980s and then surprisingly took the lead with his role in Michael Crichton and Steven Spielberg’s 1993 hit film Jurassic Park.
Then again, just three years later, Goldblum was at the center of another blockbuster film, Independence Day, which also starred Will Smith. Since then, Goldblum has made numerous television appearances on popular sitcoms such as Friends and Will and Grace. He appeared in the 2006 film Man of the Year, starring Robin Williams and Christopher Walken; and also starred in the NBC drama Raines, airing in 2007. Jeff Goldblum was married to Geena Davis from 1987 to 1990 and they starred together in three films. Goldblum is presently unmarried, plays in a jazz band, and is reported to be a master at the game of scrabble. Though Michael Crichton has reportedly begun working on a script for a fourth Jurassic Park, it is not likely that Goldblum will be returning as Dr. Ian Malcom. YUDDY |
