Jeffrey Dean Morgan Biography American actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is best known for his recurring role with Grey’s Anatomy. He is also noted, however, for his turn with Supernatural and the film P.S. I Love You.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was born April 22, 1966 in Seattle, Washington. Raised in the same city, Morgan attended Ben Franklin Elementary School. He later enrolled in Rose Hill Junior High followed by Lake Washington High School. Initially interested in sports, Morgan was an avid basketball player. He incurred a knee injury, however, and this left him unable to pursue the sport any longer.
Briefly interested in graphic design, Morgan’s professional aspirations changed after visiting Los Angeles. Deciding he wanted to act, he made his onscreen debut in 1991 with Uncaged. Unfortunately, the film was panned by critics and audiences alike. He did not win another role until 1995 with Dillinger and Capone. Martin Sheen and F Murray Abraham starred as John Dillinger and Al Capone respectively. His first major role came the following year with the television series The Burning Zone. He played Doctor Edward Marcase alongside James Black, Michael Harris, and Tamlyn Tomita. With his newfound notoriety, Morgan continued to bounce around film and television. He is particularly noted for one-episode appearances on Walker, Texas Range, ER, The Practice, and others. He had another recurring role, albeit brief, with JAG. He appeared in three episodes of the popular drama series alongside series regulars David James Elliott and Catherine Bell. Morgan also increased his exposure through the musical short Something More. Although the project did not receive much attention or acclaim, it did attract big name stars such as Tony Shalhoub, Kellie Waymire, Adam Scott, and Gina Philips.
He also ventured into the horror spoof genre with Dead & Breakfast. The 2004 comedy also starred Ever Carradine, Portia de Rossi, and David Carradine. But it was 2006 that proved his breakout year. During this year through 2007, Morgan appeared as Denny Duquette in the popular medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. Winning this role, he was the onscreen love interest to Katherine Heigl’s character. Proving a popular character, he also shared the screen with series regulars Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Kate Walsh, and Justin Walsh. On the film front, Morgan could be seen in P.S. I Love You opposite Gerard Butler and Oscar-winner Hilary Swank. Minor roles were fulfilled by Lisa Kudrow, Gina Gershon, and Kathy Bates. Others may recognize Morgan for his recurring role in the popular television series Supernatural. The series also featured Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. He is set to appear as The Comedian in the much-anticipated Watchmen with Malin Akerman, Carla Gugino, Billy Crudup, Jackie Earle Haley, and others. In his personal life, Morgan was rumored to have been married once. Although little details are known about the coupling, it is certain that it ended at some point in divorce. Morgan has subsequently been linked to Mary Louise Parker. Although they were briefly engaged, the relationship was officially called off in mid-2008. |
