Jennifer Aniston was born on February 11, 1969, in Sherman Oaks, California. She began her formal acting training early, spending her high school years as a drama student at the New York High School of the Performing Arts. After her graduation in 1987, Jennifer appeared in off-Broadway productions, as well as the short-lived sitcoms The Edge and Molloy.
Aniston’s big break came in 1994, when she successfully landed the part of Rachael Green in the Friends, which was originally called Friends Like These. The show would become one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. Friends was on the air for ten years, and each of the actors eventually commanded one million dollars per episode for their appearances.
Although Aniston is perhaps best known as Rachael Green, she has also appeared in many successful films such as The Good Girl, Office Space, and the hit comedy The Breakup. Her film career has showed no sign of slowing down. In 2006 she also appeared with the British actor, Clive Owen, in Derailed. She went on to produce and act in several films, including The Senator’s Wife.
Jennifer’s Friends co-stars are also her pals in real life. She is the godmother of Courteney Cox and David Arquette’s child. Cox acted alongside Aniston in Friends, as the obsessive Monica Geller. She was also good friends with Matthew Perry, another Friends co-star, and even offered to be his personal trainer in his publicized weight loss struggle.
Jennifer married movie star Brad Pitt in July of 2000, and the pair was quickly named one of Hollywood’s power couples. Pitt was a highly sought after actor whose hit movies included Fight Club and Ocean’s Eleven.
This perfect union ended in divorce in October of 2005 amidst allegations that Pitt was having an affair with his Mr and Mrs Smith costar Angelina Jolie. Since the divorce, Pitt and Jolie have given birth to a daughter, Shilou and twins, Knox and Vivienne and are quite open about the status of their relationship.
Jennifer handled the end of her marriage and tabloid coverage remarkably well. She was very private about both the divorce and the infidelity allegations.
Aniston was also rumored to be romantically involved with Vince Vaughn, who was her co-star in The Breakup. Unlike Pitt, however, she was not so open about her relationship status; even though Vaughn and Aniston had been spotted together in places like Malibu, they insisted that they were just friends for quite some time. The two eventually went public with their relationship and the two were rumored to be engaged but eventually the pair parted company.
In July 2007 Jennifer sparked rumours of what turned out to be a short lived relationship with Aaron Eckhart, 39, when the two were asked to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that year. Both were inducted at a reception in September at the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills.
But by March 2008 Aniston had set her eyes on her latest co-star, Owen Wilson, ex boyfriend of Kate Hudson. She was seen getting close to the comedian in Miami, where they had been shooting the movie Marley & Me in which the pair play husband and wife in the adaptation of John Grogan's memoir, and sources reported there was growing chemistry between them off screen.
But no sooner had the rumours hit the tabloids than the relationship had fizzled out. Next in line for a taste of a relationship with Aniston was singer/songwriter, John Mayer. Aniston and Mayer were photographed in several inimate situations and finally went public with their relationship in mid 2008.
As so often happens in the world of celeb, being under the constant pressure of the paps, eventually John and Jen parted company with rumours of heartbreak on Aniston's part. The paps watched and waited and finally established that the couple had rekindled their love and were once again dating when in October 2008, the couple reunited for a dinner at Il Mulino. Since being spotted by the paps, Jennifer confirmed on the Oprah Winfrey show that she was again dating John Mayer.
Rumours abounded of Aniston's pregnancy, which she quickly denied.
The following year, 2009, was a busy year for Jennifer when her movie, Marley and Me, in which she starred with Owen Wilson was released on Christmas Day '08 and still filled movie theaters well into 2009. Hot on the heels of that success, Aniston starred in the movie of the book, He's Just Not that Into You, which had featured in the HBO series Sex and the City. In that movie Aniston was surrounded by several other hot Hollywood ladies, Scarlett Johansson, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly and Ginnifer Goodwin.
Once again, in early 2009 Jennifer became single as she and Mayer finally drew a line under their on/off relationship.
